Default Bolt-ons hp question

Hey guys, sorry f this question has been answered. I tried researching but disnt really find out exactly what i wanted.

Anywhoo, i added some short tails to my car. (They were free from a friend but the i heard that they loose low end power. Would it really be ENOUGH to make a difference?? I got so paranoid about it that now i think my car really is slower. Lol. But the stock resonator is so heavy, wouldn't the loss of power compensate from all the weight taken off?...
And if it does loose torque, what would be good bolt ons to add some more torque? Without having to add a supercharger or turbo. I hear the stillen g3 adds high end.. Anything out there for some good low end torque?

Again, sorry if its been answered. Ive been working 16 hour shifts lately. its been a little difficult to find the research.

Thanks everyone

I don't think that removing the resonator would gain you anything in the realm of weight reduction, as it's probably minimal. I think it's (in terms of 1/4mi times) about 1s for every 100-150lbs, right? (I could be wrong here too though).

I can't help you a whole lot on the other stuff though, don't have a Z yet.

AAM told me the Short Tails wouldn't really add horsepower. If the pipes aren't freeing up enough restriction to add power ... I'd imagine you wouldn't lose HP either.

Speaking out of my a** honestly. I have no idea.

The resonator causes backpressure which is what helps with low end power. I believe the short tails will free up some of that backpressure which will reduce torque.

The stock resonators do create some backpressure. Backpressure is a give or take thing on NA cars, as backpressure increases low end torque but damages high end horsepower.

And yes, the short tails remove the muffler, the primary source of sound deadening and a little of the backpressure. You won't lose any noticeable power (maybe like an average of 2-3 torques, not enough to feel unless your butt dyno happens to have a lot of sensitive instrumentation in it), but yes, you will lose some torque.

I have an exhaust which is relatively high diameter, so I have no torque until the juice kicks in at 3500 rpm. The intake manifold is a good choice to get a lot of that torque back. A larger diameter intake (Akuma's comes to mind) will help bring some of that back as well.

Just think about what your saying. Cut 500 lbs and you will be breaking into the 8's for a 1/4 mile. We only wish it was that easy!

The temp outside has more of an effect on changing overall power than just swapping out the muffler for short tails. The difference will be barely noticeable. Heck, it will probably "feel" faster with a louder exhaust.

It could have been a tenth rather than a full? Makes a little more sense. I never did any of the weight reduction stuff, not into it for a DD car.

Like I said, I could be (and obviously was) wrong. It's been so long since I've been into the racing scene. That whole "if you don't use it, you'll lose it" cliché comes to mind.

yep, roughly .1 sec for every 100 lbs. in this power/weight class.
