Can't decide on which colour Z to buy.
I am torn between red, silver and pearl white.
Each colour has it's pros and cons to me. Red looks sporty and hot - but is a cop magnet, harder to keep clean and one of the fastest fading colours. Silver is classy and sophisticated - easy to keep clean, but so oversold in the past 10-15 years. Also I currently own a silver car. Pearl white - never used to like white, but I like the pearl sheen, even though the Z pearl is not as pearly as some. And the those pearl white Amuse kits look so good. I have not seen the new red, so it could be an option as well. I know that each one of you who owns these individual colours will be biased to that colour, but it would be interesting to hear your perspectives on your choice and how you feel the colour you chose looks and how it is to live with. Thank you. |
If you are running 100MPH, it doesn't matter the color - Mr Officer is going to pull you. :) My GT-R was red is so is my Z and I don't buy the red cop magnet myth.

Silver! Silver! Silver!
Ah... wait a sec... I had a silver one. White! White! White! |
Buy a white one and wrap it silver.
|
From black to silver... I love the silver. Of course, I blacked everything out..
But white looks sexy with black accents! |
I own a silver but If I had another $40,000 change stuck somewhere I'd pick up a PW one. Try look clean AF!
|
Go with either red or white...silver is too common.
|
WHITE!!!! lol it was my initial choice before I changed to Monterey Blue. Love my blue Z though. But out of those colors, WHITE gets my vote.
BTW, I added a public poll (where you can see who voted what color). I hope you don't mind. |
Nope. Should have done it myself. That's why you are the boss.
|
I realize now from AK that MB could be monterey blue and also magnetic black.
I thought his tastes were mediocre but now I realize they are refined and excellent. honestly though I also really love white.. but my last car was white and eventually the sun made it a slight shade of yellow (the car was kept mostly in a garage although after so many years it's inevitable - but the image of it was a factor in my mind when I considered my colour nevertheless) out of the colours you mentioned.. I'd hit up the white! |

White will be my next color regardless of whatever car I get http://cdn.speedhunters.com/wp-conte...ze370Z-117.jpg http://cdn.speedhunters.com/wp-conte...ze370Z-090.jpg http://cdn.speedhunters.com/wp-conte...ze370Z-080.jpg http://cdn.speedhunters.com/wp-conte...ze370Z-159.jpg   |
Out of those colors, I would also choose white. However I do like how the silver blendes well with the headlight housings, emblems, handles, etc looks clean.
|
red or black, I have white and wish i got black or red. Black looks so good in person when clean.
By the way the pearl white on this car is a joke. I had a premium pearl white Honda Prelude and in 10 years not once piece flaked off. Nissan paint always gave me problems. |
When I went to look at them at the dealer they had every color that the Z could come in and I thought white looked the best, and at the time it was the rarest of the colors so thats what I picked up :)

red!!!..but the swirl marks will drive you crazy.
|
white so you can have awesome black accents, white would def be my choice after gunmetallic

White for sure...bit maybe the new red too. If silver is a contender maybe look at gun metallic. I know you didn't mention it but the color is like several colors in one.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/11/asavuju5.jpg

here is some pics there is more coming very soon adding alot of parts.
pearl white is always clean even when its dirty it hides swirls well and scratches and dings. |
I would suggest you definitely a white one with black rims. That is my dream car colour and I’ll also buy it so soon how I can.
|
Pearl was m 2nd choice...sexy with dark tint
|
Red is always my favorite but I do not want to stand out more than I do so although silver has been oversold it is easy to keep clean and I could negotiate $7400 off silver vs Platinum Gray (which I prefer).
White is another sophisticated colors but too much for me to keep clean. |
My current car is red, and while I love red, I won't get another one. It just seems that regardless of how bright your car is, other cars still find it.
I'm going to go with the Midnight Blue I think, when I order my Z in the next few weeks (I hope it's that soon), but I did like the Pearl White, before they changed the rims. Unfortunately I can't go see one in person with the sport rims, because there's not a single one in Arizona. Just base and touring models, no sport. |
Between a white like pw and a white like Hyundai's Karrusell White... i'd take the hyundai style white any day. Pearl white on the Z robs the Z of its sportiness imho...
Black Red Monterey blue G. metallic Silver M Red The colors below... Black cherry pearl white midnight blue Make the Z look like a pseudo luxury car. those colors are generally nice, but take away from the Z's aggressiveness. jmho. |
Solid red.
|
Thank you all for excellent input.
If that does not say aggressive, nothing does. http://cdn.speedhunters.com/wp-conte...ze370Z-080.jpg |
I'd go with the gun metallic silver....I prefer darker colors...but want to avoid black as it's impossible to keep looking nice.
Red? Meh....screams mid life crisis "Hey!!!! Pay attention to ME!!!!" to me whenever I see a red sports car. White? Eye of the beholder and all that...but white cars do nothing for me. No character. *shrug* |
Buy a red one and trade me, I have silver.
:icon17: In case you were wondering, I voted for Red. |
Dont get silver because I have this color. Get red or white.
|
I'd go for the white. I have a black 370Z, and if I had to chose another color, it would be white because that color shows off all the lines and the shape of the car more clearly.
I got black because parts of the car are in black and any other color would make those black parts stick out. The majority of the interior is black, the lower part of the side view mirrors are black, and some other details would be covered up because of the color. |

Honestly you can't ask people what color you should buy. Of course, everyone will try to help you and will give you what is the best color from their point of view.
I would say...if you don't know what color you want, just pick any color and do some none factory wrapping color, even mate. If you ask me what color, i would say white because you can do some nice color matching in black and white add the vestito to it and you will get the best, that's why i pick a white Z Or....you can buy the zele kit and orange wrap your Z, etc. Like so. |
White!
|
... so just follow the poll results.:)
|
White for sure of those 3.

Biggest part of my question are the pros and cons of each colour. I can't help it if people answer only one part of the question. Those that talk about swirl marks and car lines being hidden with certain colours provide the the type of answers that are very informative. |
Silver looks the best at night. White looks better during the day.
|
I never specifically chose a color cuz it's hard to choose... But I would either go with Magna Red or gun metallic. I love the sheen GM leaves when you use high end waxes like meguiars or better. It truly looks amazing... I've owned brilliant silver as well. GM will look clean from far but up close dirt is easily visible. With BS, even close it's hard to see dirt... GM just looks better though. Next i choose magna red because i guarantee it will be the next extremely rare color since chicane yellow. Rarity is always good.
|
The wife put the xnay on the gun metal.
