Default Ignition "Hot"

Does anyone know if there is an "ignition hot" wire located anywhere under the hood? I thought there maybe one in the fuse box on the passenger side, but they all seem to be constantly hot. Reason I ask; I'm looking to make a connection so that some aux. lighting can come on when I hit the ignition button. If not, I may have to route through the firewall into the main fuse box. I did search and really didn't find anything.

Thanks guys...

Wiring an aux switch under the dash might be a much better idea. Do you really want to risk blowing the ignition circuit?

Let me clearify. I'm not looking to wire to the ignition switch, just tap into something that powers up when you turn on the car e.g.: wipers, a/c etc. and adding an in-line fuse/relay. I've accomplished this numerous times on other vehicles with no issues.

I haven't looked yet, but is there a good place to gain access through the firewall if I have to get power from the fuse box on the interior?

Thanks!

Ummm....The dome light is a constant hot, not an ignition hot. Anyway, I found a good spot to pull wire through the firewall and tap the fuse box

The 9-volt outlet is an accessory wire I believe... my GPS always powers down when I turn the car off (plugged into that socket obviously).

You mean "12" volt

That maybe a better place. Thanks!

Drivers side near the steering column there is a small fuse panel. You can use use a meter or tester to determine which of fuse link are hot only when the ignition is on. I temporarily spliced into one of the fuses for my satellite radio receiver.
