Will you be purchasing the 1st year production 370Z?

I'll be waiting until the 2nd year production so most of the "bugs" will be worked out on the 370Z.

What about you?

AK370Z 12-07-2008 05:14 PM

I think this new Z is in a lot better position than the 350Z in 2003. It was a very first car and very first model year. This time, the VQ is tuned perfectly. The chassis is completely updated and everything is in great shape. My only concern is the Synchro Rev Match transmission. Anything that's "World's First" always makes me a little nervous. Other than that, I don't see really a difference buyer 1st year or 2nd - 3rd year.

xDIEGOx 12-07-2008 05:20 PM

The synchro rev match is what I'm worried about. I'm just going to wait to play it safe.

or you can just keep it turned off? BTW, does anyone know if the Synchro Rev Match is defaulted every time you start the car? or you manually have to turn it on? I'm just too lazy to read the manual :o

dad 12-07-2008 05:29 PM

No Way! I'm willing to bet with all disappointment and dislike of the head and tail lights, that Nissan will re design them! (Wish in one hand, and **** in the other!)

I would hate to buy a car with some thing I really didn't care for, and the following years model be re designed!

vnarang 12-07-2008 05:32 PM

I don't know. Maybe I will. A huge factor is whether or not my wheels will fit on the new 370z.

no, you have to get the "sport" package with the car and 6spd, then it'll come with synchro rev match, cnet says it works very good but not for those who know how to downshift...it only works when you actually turn it on, there is a "sport-mode" or s-mode button on the car next to the shifter...its an option and doesnt come with every Z

source cnet

Dav 12-07-2008 06:22 PM

I'm buying the 1st year production model.
I'm not worried at all. I bought the first 350Z and had no problems, I'm even less worried about the 370Z. It's a Nissan, not a Fiat :rofl2:

CrownR426 12-07-2008 06:25 PM

Yep, don't see why not.
No bugs, better engine, better steering, lighter!
Excited, indeed...

I agree with some of the others, shouldn't be too many bugs to worry about. The engine isn't new and I'm also opting for the 7 speed auto so I'm not worried about the new synchro rev match feature. Other than that there isn't much to worry about (I'm sure some issue will come up eventually but I doubt it will be anything major)... I've never had major problems with any of my past Nissan/Infiniti vehicles (1996 Altima GXE, 2001 Altima SE, 2003 Altima SE and the two below in my sig that I still own). They keep on improving and becoming better and I'm really liking the 370Z. I was considering getting a 2008 350Z but now I'm glad I waited because the 370Z is much better looking (IMO the 370Z looks a lot more aggressive and masculine than the 350Z) and now offers the same tech goodies (hard-drive based navigation, music box, paddle shifters, etc...) I'm used to in my G sedan.

Nissan's normal development cycle introduces a new model and refreshes it three years later. Don't expect a change until 2013.

I can see so many people still revving the gas (natural instinct) by mistake while having the sport mode on. This feature will help during autox a lot where you need to down shift very quickly. Can't wait to try this out :excited:

Endgame 12-07-2008 09:07 PM

More than likely the 1st year. There is nothing I am worried about and nothing I hate about this car. LOVE it!!

RCZ 12-07-2008 09:12 PM

I'll be buying it first year. I don't think its going to have too many problems. Although I'm worried about how the synchrorev system will handle human mistakes.

tranceformer 12-07-2008 09:19 PM

I don't think it'll be that bad as a first year model. A lot of the drivetrain and suspension should be shared with the G37 coupe, and I haven't heard of that many problems yet.

I might end up getting one first year.

cstr_Cali 12-07-2008 09:23 PM

4th year to be exact.

o0javi0o 12-07-2008 09:27 PM

I am getting 1st gen possibly. Not to much to worry I believe. Nissan will be very very careful to get this car in a very good shape, to many eyes on nissan right now with the release of GTR and a lot of expectation for the 370z. They are very aware of what they are doing right now.
About the Sycro Trans, well, dont think that will have problems at all, maybe people miss using it.

I believe that this will be a great car to buy and enjoy any day.

You are correct on that! That's why I put,"wish in one hand,**** in the other". Fanicially this year , no way possible. I'll(we)have to wait till 2010.

ctzn 12-07-2008 09:52 PM

I had an 03 350 and never had a problem with it in any sense. I am not too worried about the first year model being buggy, that's what a warranty is for. I will buy a first year model, probably in March or April.

Ooooooooo. That's the year I'm buying! Boo-yah!!!

BanningZ 12-07-2008 09:59 PM

I will be buying first year.
The "boomerang" head and taillights are not a problem for me.
I think Nissan has the "bugs" worked out of this one.

Its engine is only what, 30% different than the previous?

So basically you have 70% of an engine that has been examined and retooled since 2003 and a Nav/climate system already tested in the G37, along with engines and drive train.

The biggest concerns might be for the 7SPD Auto which will be for the warranty, recalls, and me to figure out :D

gettingaZ 12-08-2008 03:51 PM

I will be getting a first year'er! lol.

zero 12-08-2008 08:29 PM

I bought 2003 350Z and I will again buy 2009 370Z.

Hiway Star 12-08-2008 08:48 PM

seriously considering purchasing this car but probably not until late '09

Tobizach 12-11-2008 08:25 AM

2nd year for me (hubbys rule) . Im keeping my 05 anyway so won't be Z less. ;)

370z 12-11-2008 12:11 PM

if i'm going to get it, i'll get the 1st year...
ya can't put a price on 1yr of enjoyment!

especially when we are talkin about the 370z

Agreed! As you said that a lot of stuff is shared with the G37 and it's been on the for a year already. In 2003 350Z had those problems because it was a BRAND new car without any previous models. This time it'll be a lot better experience IMO

:rofl2: I bet you $50 that once you see them on the road, you'll be at your local Nissan Dealer!

Now that's the attitude!

nogoodname 12-11-2008 02:02 PM

After buying the first year production car of the G37, i came to realize that i should have waited a bit because there are soo many little bugs/gremlins......rattles everywhere...throttle problems...actuator problems (causes thumping sounds, very nasty to hear from an engine).....broken pieces in exhaust....cd player messed up.......other ppl had sunroof problems......rattle noise from center speaker......not able to change the radio station, gets locked...lol...(Sunsational would go crazy if that happened to her while Womenizer was playing !!)...and there are other stuff as well.

recently there's a AirBag problem for the passenger seat, it turns off even when a person is sitting there.

How long have you had your G37?

Manual states that it will remember it's last position. So if you turn it on it will default to "on" when you start the car next....if you have it set to off it will default to "off" when you start the car next.

I will be getting a 2009...:eekdance:

If Nissan does that, the first year 370Z will become a highly sought after car in years to come (like the split window Corvette). So it would be a good idea to have one.

Even though I doubt a second year redesign will happen.

batman_4 12-11-2008 05:55 PM

if all goes well i will be upgrading in May '09

I doubt it's gonna happen at all with the 370Z.

I personally don't think it looks right without the boomerang lights. All the PS jobs I've seen with "normal" lights just look off.

7 sp has been out foralmost a year now.

frost 12-16-2008 09:01 PM

I was until I heard of the overheating issue. Although I doubt they will, I'm hoping they will fix in the next year. I also want a stick, so I'm a little sketchy on the rev match.

shumby 12-16-2008 09:03 PM

they did not fix it in the second model year of the G37. so i don't think they will on the Z. but come one oil cooler will be a cheep mod and is that worth waiting 1 year for something that might not happen?
