Getting a 370z soon, need opinions/questions answered
I am getting a 370z soon. I am stuck between two colors (Gun Metal, White), which one? Why? Also, I love stick shift cars but the automatic seems amusing because of the paddle shift system. What would you prefer, why?
Thank You for your time!:tiphat: |

- Get whichever one YOU like more. I've got some pictures of my gun metal Z in my profile if you wanna check it out. - I've never driven a paddle shift car, but i like the good ole' stick. Just feels more aggressive I guess.:driving: |
I love the white, but the gun metal is the next nicest color IMHO, and much easier to keep clean. As for auto versus 6 speed, I would never buy a vehicle like this in an automatic.

Is white a color? Or is it lack of color?

I'll make your decision, Gun Metallic and Manual. Now go buy it. Your welcome

:) white is beautiful on the Z. I got the auto mainly because it's my daily driver. Going to work and school in traffic jams would drive me crazy especially in the mornings. Now if you have a DD get the manual! I find myself sometimes wishing I had gotten the 6 speed :(
|
Depends on where your Z will be driven. If you'll be seeing mostly city i would choose the 7spd.
|
That logic does not make sense. On the highway you only use one gear - 5th or 6th. The city is where the manual shines. The real everyday race.

Gun metal is about a billion times easier to maintain. hth.

I like white Z. It stands out. But you can't go wrong either way. As far as stick shift vs 7am, I'd always go for 6MT on a sports car. Just my 2 cents.

RE: What would you prefer, why? Manual, because I am heterosexual and would not consider automatic. |
This is a decision you will need to make and it is tough because you'll be stuck with it once you sign the papers. I actually test drove both colors, GM Nismo and a PW ST. In speaking with a dealer, more GM colors went out in 2012 and is a very popular color. It does not show dirt as quick as the PW. It can go for days and look fine (I have an G37 with a similar GM shade). I have a PW and take the time to clean it everyday (I have OCD I think). It stands out under the sun with the pearl orient going on and at night, it has a nice distinct appearance because of the contrast between the dark background and simply makes the car stand out.

Auto doesn't make you gay, having a roof does :p Make it a roadster. :tiphat: |
I wish they had a Sport white in manual when I was buying. I only had 1 week to buy before employee discount expired, so I had to settle for the 40th. But white is such a beautiful color on the Z. Get the white.

If you can, get a 2012 or newer because they come from the factory with an oil cooler. Stick or auto is up to you! |

looking back now i kinda wished i had got the white. the yellow draws WAY too much attention from the wrong kinda people...

I've driven stick for a number of years, but got my Z in the 7AT and I have no regrets. I see both sides of the "stick vs. auto" argument...but this isn't your typical auto. It has the paddle shifting or bump shifting and both are very responsive...plus the auto is going to shift to the next gear faster than any human could. When I had UpRev done...my tuner increased my shift speed so when I'm in manual mode...my shifts are much faster so you get that "manual" feel as well. Just my $.02; I mean...you can't really go wrong with either of your choices.
Enjoy your Z and welcome to the family! |
Hey OP, you still around? You're pretty quiet. Regarding color, GM or PW can't go wrong either way. But get PW cause I'm getting GM :tiphat:
Your original post says, you love a stick. Because of that I say, stick with that (no pun intended, ok maybe some :icon17:). Auto's with paddle shifters are great and can shift faster than I can with a manual, plus in real bad stop and go traffic, it's the best. But if you're like me, when you've got a clear mountain road ahead of you, pressing that clutch and shifting your own gears, is absolutely the best driving experience I can have! |

I say go with Gun Metal and with the 7AT since it's faster and has a better transmission.

Gun Metal. (easier to maintain)
Manual. (It's a sports car) Thank me later :) |

Test drive both -- the 7AT on this car is brilliant (and technically a bit faster than the 6MT).
And that's before tuning -- you can increase the speed of the shifts to be far faster than anyone but the Stig could manage. |
