yeah those dots are extremely innaccurate because of the odd shaped tank. btw the best gas mileage I've ever gotten on the z was on a long interstate drive doing an average of 90-95 mph so the theory that driving slower gives better mileage is bunk.

UNKNOWN_370 08-12-2012 05:16 PM

When you put the performance of the car into perspective? The Z gives average fuel economy for what it is... its not breakthrough great but it's not horrible. 19/26 is possible, but fun goes out the door with a bootkick. Break a VQ over 30,000 miles with proper maintenence. Its very possible to get 24mpg's combineddriving a little more aggressively than when the car is brand new. The mileage is very dependent on your foot though. And I know I'm guilty of it. That's why I can't stay out of the 270-320 range. When I make an effort. I can exceed that. But I don't. In the past I have been able to bring my miles 100 miles in range on the tank in combo city driving...

Only problem is... I feel like I'm gonna fall asleep behind the wheel when I do. Lol

I'm curious, why did you get a Z if your driving is entirely urban AND you're concerned with gas mileage? You seem to be one of the resident anti-Z trolls - why lurk around on here if your Z makes you so miserable? The forum dedicated to the car I loathe wouldn't exactly be my choice for a hangout, but perhaps that's too logical.

I'm about halfway through my second tank and I'm already up to about 22 MPG at 400 miles on the odo. On my first fill up, the nav reported that I had 370 miles to empty - the true namesake of our cars.

if i go 60 on the highway she gives me 320+, the minute I step on her i loose dots like no tomm, thats why i like taking it slow with her once in while. :driving:

wow nice, I have to keep a log like this :icon17:

Bucketlist2012 08-15-2012 01:19 PM

For me I could care less about MPG. It is all about the smiles per miles for me.

nmjaxx9 08-15-2012 01:21 PM

^^ also true but with gas prices as they are now its better to always keep an eye on how much you are consuming, but this is for a whole tank MPG is the other thread.

spearfish25 12-28-2013 05:48 AM

For anyone upset about their fuel economy, the CTS-V I traded the Z for gets 15-17 mpg highway and has an 18 gallon tank. 200mi range city driving and 300 highway at 70mph. 85mph puts the range back down to about 220 mi.

No one bought these cars for fuel economy. You could always get the new vette if you have a strong desire for a 4 cylinder at times. But I much prefer enjoying the performance vehicle I opted for.

122554 12-28-2013 06:15 AM

Don't care. When it's empty, I fill it!

nismo13807 12-28-2013 10:08 AM

326 miles was the highest i got on 18 gallons.. and thats with mostly highway... with mostly city driving i average around 260 miles on 18 gallons
