plasti dip the whole car?

So I'm thinking about plasti-dipping the whole car, I'm thinking about going all white with a black roof and maybe later i'll add a CF hood.
Anyone have tried it on a Z? any pictures or any advice?
I want to know if its worth it.
I just dont want to regret it later

Jasonle 08-09-2012 09:02 PM

Cleaning isn't an issue but I'm worried about the car/paint,

It's your car....if you want to, go for it!

cc370z 08-09-2012 11:04 PM

Just go for it. It just peels off if you don't like it.

Glokwork 08-10-2012 12:25 AM

It can be done and made to look good. If you go through with it definitely buy a kit with a sprayer from dipyourcar.com

I know I have read at least two members here have done the whole car and one ended up with a ton of over spray on his neighbors house.

There are tons of threads on plastidip on here!

SmallermouseZ 08-10-2012 01:02 AM

Plastidip won't harm your clear coat?

christian370z 08-10-2012 02:21 AM

Some people have had their actual base paint come off when they removed a plastic dip coating they had applied (very few), and it can become very difficult to remove in some cases likely due to errors in prep work. But those are all limited and I think that matte white actual looks good, especially from those dipyourcar tutorials.

MattP725 08-10-2012 06:05 AM

Looks really really good... my concern is not being able to wash it without beating up the dip and it leaving any sort of clearcoat eating residue... pretty sure that the clear and paint are supposed to be able to breathe. I think even clearbras have microscopic pores.

Salem 08-10-2012 09:47 AM

I think i'll just go with it and do it.
I'll post pictures as soon as i do it

Plasti-dip FAIL: What not to do - G35 NYC

Minsu 08-10-2012 10:43 AM

Plasti Dip does not harm ur paint in any form, it protects your under layer paint the original by making any scratches go through the plasti dip first. Plasti dip can be peeled off in a matter of minutes and the little specks, a car wash will do the trick. Just follow the instructions and you will be fine. The whole car set runs like 350ish with the spray gun 2 gallons and other goodies. Vinyl wrap will run you about three times that price.
Paint will run you three time the vinyl price.

You do the math.
