Call from the dealership

Yesterday the GM of finance called me, from the dealership where I purchased. He wants to buy my car back no matter the payoff and give me $7,000 factory to dealer incentives on a new nissan, honda or VW. ( interesting that all 3 have factory to dealer cash now ) All he could really say is that I have to schedule an appointment to talk and make a new purchase by the 30th. No word if I coluld get another Z or not. Seems kinda strange to me. Thoughts, suggestion or similar stories?

I wonder if Ent-Z got the same call, since we both bought at the same dealership.

shabarivas 06-22-2009 12:53 AM

Hmm WTF? keep this updated ... sounds un-normal

370Z Purist 06-22-2009 12:57 AM

Indeed, update us. This sounds interesting at the LEAST. This may be the turn of a factory recall (fat chance).

Forrest 06-22-2009 02:15 AM

so basicly sell your z. get 100% money back then get 7k?

SOme how my brain is thinking maybe you have some special proto type 370z that was not supposed to be shipped to a dealer and sold to you hahah.

The other part of my brain is saying maybe theres something really wrong with your Z and it was never suppoesd to fall into your hands.

I would show up in a unmarked car not the z he wants of course and figure out whats going on for sh@ts and giggles.

oh yeah on a side note, you have fell very sentimentaly in love with your Z and parting with it for 7k extra still may not sever the emotional bond you have with it haha wink wink

BanningZ 06-22-2009 04:57 AM

Just a hypothetical

The dealership might have gotten a cash offer above the sale price you got it for as long as they can acquire the car by the 1st of July. They buy the Z back and give you incentives which are not a big deal to them and rake in a cash above asking price sale on the Z. Two sales for them.

spearfish25 06-22-2009 05:43 AM

Just check the back hatch and make sure you didn't overlook the duffle bag full of cash sitting back there...

DJcuetip 06-22-2009 06:45 AM

lol

nogoodname 06-22-2009 08:38 AM

was ur Z suppose to be a test car for the presses...lol...has some mods done from factory....ha

if you can get another Z, do it...lol....but ask what's their reasoning

All I can say is don't be too :excited:
Cause you never know what the hell can happen.
Good luck brother!

FuszNissan 06-22-2009 08:58 AM

There is a Retro incentive going on right now and if you hit the number you reviece some cash, but Z don't count. $7,000.00 Factory Incentive, they must be owned my NISSAN..lol. Cause I have never heard of such a thing

nogoodname 06-22-2009 09:00 AM

very curious to see what happens next..lol

Robert_Nash 06-22-2009 10:01 AM

I don't wish to throw a damper on this but I know of NO incentives from Nissan that would approach this "deal" being offered and certainly not on the 370Z.

I would be very, very, cautions with this and if anything is agreed to make absolutely sure it is in writing and signed by the GM of the dealership.

And no, to lay such thoughts aside, in today's world, "special" vehicles don't get shipped to dealers by accident...I won't say it absolutely cannot happen ever but it's so unlikely that it's hardly worth a nanosecond of consideration...vehicles that cannot be legally sold to the public are very much kept track of! :)

semtex 06-22-2009 10:34 AM

I'd still check to see if you have a hidden oil cooler all the same. ;)

CCCLXXZ 06-22-2009 11:48 AM

Is your steering wheel on the right side of the car? Just kidding, let them know I have the same car with 252 miles on it... I'll take $2000 over invoice if they need it that badly.

My opinion is not to go through with the deal, I am not sure what you paid for the car but I am thinking they have someone that wants to buy a matching set, GTR and 370Z in black for his/hers and offered MSRP.

I would have them order you a NISMO and trade it straight up.

Nick

He has touring/sport/nav in his car. It's worth more than a NISMO.

This is definitely very strange. It could have something to do with incentives if they sell so many cars this month, but he's offering it on 3 manufacturers, so that doesn't make sense. I think it is just a sales pitch. He said he would buy your car back "no matter what the payoff", well if you put a nice chunk down, that may be a rotten deal for you, and I'm sure the 7K only applies to certain vehicles. It would be no big deal to get 7K off a loaded Maxima right now.

FuszNissan 06-22-2009 11:56 AM

Gimick

nogoodname 06-22-2009 11:57 AM

because the dealership owner may own a few dealerships and it's a deal coming from him only....incentive from owner not Nissan i'm assuming here....

ask for a Black on orange with touring/nav/sports......if they do it, just drive in and drive out with a new Z...lol...has to be a same day deal for this to work.

:iagree: Some sort of scam just to get you in the door. Dealers, as a general rule, don't stay in business doing deals like this..

370Z Purist 06-22-2009 02:10 PM

Let's just see what ejrives tells us when he gets back.

Interesting! fwiw , Im in STL and it's one of your competition dealers in Hazelwood....still kinda kicking myself in the pants for going through them

ejrives 06-22-2009 03:16 PM

Anyways, I've scheduled an appointment later this week. I'll keep everyone posted. They weren't allowed to talk about it on the phone at all , which makes it more of a gimmick in my mind. I'm thinking their marketing company screwed up because "sales" like this are generally the dealership hunting for two year old cars.

Sorry Semtex no hidden oil coolers :rofl2:

FuszNissan 06-22-2009 03:18 PM

Interesting.
There is retro money on a select few cars. I am sure they have a big bogey to hit the cash. But it's only on Nissan. It's on
Altima/Altima Coupe
Maxima
Rouge
Murano

I am curious to see how they handle this. Becuase I am confused, and I do this for a living. Unless he is qouting the biggest incentive/discount there is and trying to lure you in with it....funny how he didn't really explain anything either.

fly yellow 06-22-2009 03:24 PM

This is definitely something fishy. I know there is some major volume incentives going on right now. My girlfriend is looking for a crossover and I took her to a dealership to look at a Murano. The sales manager said he would sell it for invoice, minus the rebates and incentives, and minus their holdback. He needed to move cars to hit that bogey.

ENT-Z 06-22-2009 05:09 PM

Yep I got the same call, same dealer. I'm certain none of it is useful on the Z though...let me know if you find out otherwise!!!

Oh, and the important part -- it's a recording, not a real person, it just goes out to everyone in their database I'm sure, they don't know whether you have a Z or an Altima

Interesting, sounded real to me. I'm still going in-- who knows , maybe I'll get a good laugh for the day at minimum.

When you get there, remember to keep the mouth closed so the hook doesn't go all the way down the throat. Trust me he will be using 10k pound test line and a net to land a big one like you.

The whole thing is:bs:

oh, I'm fully aware. Luckily , my job involves lots of numbers. Those F&I guys don't scare me at all. I actually caught a "mistake" in their favor for $500 when I purchased initially.

Anyways, this is more of a reputation test than anything. I'd like to at lest be able to say don't buy from these shitbags to the other members on here.

I don't plan on buying anything unless it's some insane, crazy deal and even then it's like a 2% chance. I <3 my Z!

jmlenz 06-23-2009 01:41 AM

I call :bs: by the dealer

...unless you have a GTR engine lurking under your aluminum bonnet

FricFrac 06-23-2009 02:34 AM

Hehe it reminds me of when we were selling my wife's Sunbird (more than happy to see that go :) I get a call from a local dealership saying they saw my add and they had someone who wanted to buy the car. I thought hey what the heck maybe it would be a quick sell and the dealer could make a little easy money too. So I set up a meeting to see the dealer and the guy offers me less than half of what I was asking for the car (which by the way was a lot cheaper than they were on the lot of course). I was furious that this guy had just wasted an hour of my time and felt like a sucker for thinking that a car sales man had anything but their intrest in mind and couldn't care less if they were wasting my time.

Be sure to unleash the fury if they mess with ya....

sig11 06-23-2009 08:22 AM

I actually came out ahead on a scam like that. I bought a used 2003 350Z with ~50,000 miles in the fall of 2006 for $15,000. The next summer the dealer I had service done at called and said they would give me $15,500 in trade on a 2007 Z. :) I realize it didn't really come out to a gain after TTL, but it was good enough reason to get me to jump on a new car.

nogoodname 06-23-2009 09:14 AM

dealership ppl are quite creative fellas, they can come up with a lot of BS...lol

FuszNissan 06-23-2009 09:59 AM

It's just a data base blast to eveyone, and the system isn't filtered to take out newly purchased vehilces. I just want to see how they handle it. Should be fun.

Yep and I just recieved their mailing form of the blast today. It does have fine print at the bottom that says not all models apply.

Akirasoft 06-24-2009 03:30 PM

this is a standard dealership ploy to get people in to buy new cars. don't bite on it.

It was a St. Louis Dealership, not Fusz, which is where I should have went in the first place.

ENT-Z 07-05-2009 07:05 PM

So how did that meeting go anyways?? I'm assuming your still driving the same Z..
