Major Paint Defect. Dealer Won't Cover
1 Attachment(s)
I want to know if anyone else has had this issue on their pearl white. I have attached a picture showing the areas. The problem cannot be seen in the pic so I will explain.
In the two circled areas, it appears as if the robotic arm that paints did not put a 2nd coat in these areas as you can see the grey primer coming through. I paid 50,000 for this car and they are arguing that the hood has been repainted, yet it hasnt. The two bad areas are in the same spot, just opposite sides of the hood. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so what did you do to get it fixed? I am asking them to send me a factory painted hood, to fix the problem Attachment 51200 |
you didn't notice this before delivery? or did it start showing up recently?

it started showing up a tiny bit in march but now it is getting really noticable. The one guy at the dealership told me he can tell it was robotic because it was exact same on both sides, but they said nissan usually doesnt have problems with pait and are very picky. then I told them that the other dealership said they thought it'd been repainted, so the guy at the 2nd dealership left for 15 minutes and brought his body guy out and he felt the hood, and said "yep repainted". So I don't know what I am to do here. I have called consumer affairs, they just told me to go to different dealership.

What about the stuff on the front there? Clearly it's not stock, I don't know what kit that is though. You didn't have it blended into the bumper/hood/fenders when that was painted?
I'm not trying to accuse you but maybe you don't know, when you add things like that on, especially with a pearlescent or metallic finish, they will often have to paint a much larger area so that the transition between the old finish and new finish is not so obvious. |
Wow that's bad! Call up everyone you can and start complaining because that's all you can do at this point.

Call the corporate offices.

link to it: As you can see you order it to match your vehicle. No painting needed http://www.nissanusa.com/nismo/perfo...2009/index.jsp |
that's the nismo s-tune kit, i think.
it is possible that the dealer or port re-painted it due to transit damage. but primer showing through? hummmm... can you take it to a paint shop and have them measure the tickness of the paint between the hood vs fenders? they should be able to get you scientific data. best to use 3rd party too. then make another claim to nissan. |

i am referring to possible transit damage....even if the paint is failing similarly on both sides, if the dealer is telling you it's been repainted, you need to show them that it wasn't to get the dealer warranty repair. honestly though, if that was my car and only the hood, i would just get that fixed on my own even though i dont agree with paying for it. it's just not worth the hassle. |
Thats bullsh!t! Good luck man.
