Personally I think they should be sending a rep to pick it up.
I agree, they came to the shop to look at the failed tires on my mom's car. She did not have to ship it anywhere.....But like I said, the tires on her car (not advan's obviously) had failed on other cars. I don't know which tires model she had that was defective. I know they were Yokohama, but that's it

Yokohama is going to have me ship my tire to them where they will then bring in an independent tire investigator to look at the tire and determine the reason for it failure. As far as the other three i have to bring them into a shop to have the tires inspected. I have a very busy schedule and will get to that on my next available day off. Ill be sure to keep everyone posted on the progress and will post detailed information on the timeline an actions taken during the whole process.

yah, you shouldn't have to ship it anywhere. i think they're taking you on a dummy ride.

anyway, take picts of the tire before you ship and i suppose hope for the best the other 3 dont fail on you while your schedule frees up... it's not like you'd have a schedule to worry about if you're dead, but oh well..:ugh2:

personally, i would just raise the car, take a flash light and a mirror tool and just inspect. look for odd wear/separation lines. you dont even have to take it off the car.

Pretty much the tire did completely separate into two pieces. Luckily it didnt come off the wheel though. Unfortunately I'm still working the whole case. Yokohama has a very demanding list for their stuff they gotta do.

For some reason they NEED pictures of the tire. Makes no sense, they have the freakin tire so why need pictures.... idk maybe theres a method to the madness lol

sounds like they are trying to avoid negative press. make sure they know you are willing to take this to the news outlets unless you get all 4 replaced

Contact the NHSTA and tell them what happened. Their website allows you enter complaints as they will take action on bad tire as they did with firestone and dunlops. That will get yokohama's attention when they get a call from them. That looks like a pretty bad failure. That at speed can kill someone in the car or riding behind them on a bike.

Yeah... I'm going to give Yokohama a fair shot. They reimburse of everything I had to pay... then I'll be good. If not, major hell storm will be sent to them. And if they make it a painful process for me, I'll be calling a lot of people. lol

That sucks and Hopfully they do something for you. I never had a tire do that before. Did You notice any issues with the tires before this happened?

Johno 09-10-2012 09:17 AM
