The 370Z window trick!

Good morning forum! I have had my base model Z since late may and have just found out that..

OUR WINDOWS ROLL DOWN WHEN WE PRESS & HOLD ON TO OUR UNLOCK BUTTON!

Thought it was a cool find and not sure if everyone knows about this (friend of mine with a sport model Z can do the same thing, but did not find out through his 2 years of ownership).

This trick could be well known, but I hope this post will help some of the members out!

Hope it works out for everyone! :tiphat:

MattP725 07-11-2012 10:34 AM

Yeah EVERYONE knows this... especially since it was in the manual since 2009.

Door handle un/lock button is the way to go though (deep pocket). ;)

Evofusion 07-11-2012 11:21 AM

I found out accidentally when I came out the other day and my windows were down. I googled it and found a thread on here that said the windows go down when you hold down the unlock button and that I must have done that while the keys were in my pocket.

Now im much more careful, its been raining lately and it would suck if they went down again :eekdance:

enkei2k 07-11-2012 11:24 AM

Watch out, it works on Altima's too! As well as many other cars out there.

Such as a 1998 lexus gs300

whoady4shoady 07-11-2012 11:43 AM

If you hold both buttons at the same time the car will perform felatio.

Fact.

Vaughanabe13 07-11-2012 12:31 PM

Every once in a while I will go out to the garage in the morning to find the windows completely rolled down. It kind of worries me. I'm not sure if the unlock button is just easy to accidentally hold down in my pocket or what. I went on a week-long vacation and came back to find my car's windows rolled down. Luckily it's always in a locked garage with no access, but it still bothers me. Is there any way to disable the windows from unrolling via the remote?

area3z 07-11-2012 12:35 PM

they also roll up with the turn (and hold) of a key

Cmike2780 07-11-2012 12:37 PM

This feature was in my 98 Maxima. I only wish they could make it so the windows go up too.

lol, OP is going to flip when he finds out there's a second accessory plug in the center armrest and that the starter button can be replaced with the one from the GT-R.

It's not working. Do I have to be in the car?

Actually.. holding down both lock and unlock button at the same time for a few seconds silences the alarm sound when you lock your car. Pretty awesome feature.

Makes sneaking in/out even more of a stealth.

You r a genius man... you have a 370z... come on now...

HArturo319 07-11-2012 06:56 PM

When I had my 350, I used to show all the nubies this trick... you're a few years late OP.

370Z Purist 07-11-2012 07:34 PM

I sympathize with OP. Came out one morning to find my windows rolled down. Had no idea what was going on, and suddenly found out that holding the unlock button rolls them down. Felt like I had just discovered a gold mine. Would love for the windows to roll back up... Or the lock button to produce the unlock chirp/beep instead of a horn honk.

I rarely ever open my windows.

Only when the car is really hot do I crack open the windows to let the heat vent. But once the A/C kicks up and I start driving, the windows go right back up. Also, when I'm at the gas station I'll roll down the passenger window all the way so I can still listen to music while I pump gas.

Kingbaby 07-11-2012 07:54 PM

There is a roll up module...I have it and it's super 007...

srbrubak 07-11-2012 08:15 PM

No big deal. I have this same feature on my 05 Altima 3.5 SE. The down side is you can't put the windows up with the FOB.

gy954 07-11-2012 08:31 PM

Yes, but why?

Clue me in...what use is this function? After all, the window controls are right next to the unlock button. Sounds like they added that function just cause they could. :)

ShinyBlueZ 07-11-2012 08:39 PM

If it's a hot day and the inside of your car is stuffy, you can roll down the windows to let it air out/cool down from inside or from a distance.

I haven't been using this feature but I should start.. now in the summer often I open my door and stand outside waiting for the oven heat blast to go away before getting in.

Also.. if you wanted to open the windows from the buttons in the car, you have to turn it on before the buttons work.

HArturo319 07-12-2012 12:15 AM

I like to impress the ladies by rolling down my windows as if it were voice commanded.

The unlock button on the keyfob, not the one on the door :P

kevrocks 07-12-2012 02:17 AM

my mind is officially blown lol..... my car stopped making sounds every time i locked/unlocked it and i had no idea why, guess i must have pressed both buttons without knowing it one day

Kingbaby 07-12-2012 05:07 AM

Now you know

Funny u said that, i just tried that trick to my co workers last week when i was about 5 meters away from the car i just press the unlock button hidden inside my pocket and said " windows down!" and they where so freakin impress specially that i also have a viper auto start remote.

wongk3 07-12-2012 08:01 PM

auto start is one awesome mod! Did you get a smart phone app where they send you text messages when alarm sounds?

Old Navy saying: When in danger or in doubt, steam in circles, scream and shout.

Or read the manual. It makes sense, even, to read the directions before assembling your kid's new bicycle.

EazyD 07-16-2012 03:30 PM

Will possibly blow OP's mind: there is a lock/unlock button next to your hatch release button as well
