wow, how did you net more than 1000 codes on the ecu stored? wat were the codes?

cossie1600 06-27-2012 02:04 PM

he couldn't tell me, why do you think I am fed up. I just love how they use my hitch as a scapgoat for everything. they are going to tell me my dogs fur or my backup camera is causing it next

2011 Nismo#91 06-27-2012 02:06 PM

Wow, they are probably blaming it on towing something too heavy and don't want anything to do with it, though I doubt you did.

The fuel gauge thing is caused by the shape of the tank rather then the sender. Though Nissan has had cases of bad senders on other models. I can drive 60miles and not have a light go out then it drops quickly to about 3/4 and is pretty consistent to about 1/3 haven't really run it lower then that often enough to know the last 1/3. THe tanks in the Z are shaped like an upside down U so there's a lot of fuel in the top end compared with the rest. Other cars are the opposite they drop quickly but take forever to get to E.

Cmike2780 06-27-2012 02:07 PM

 1,000 codes? I also don't understand the transmission thing. How would a trailer hitch cause a whine in the transmission? Is it just in neutral or also while in gear? It might be normal.

cossie1600 06-27-2012 02:41 PM

I didn't expect them to change the transmission now. the noise is normal if you can tolerate is. I think all the z do it to a point, not enough people are throwing a fit on it.

I understand the gauge is shady at best, but the problem is definitely getting worse. I have 1 year left under warranty, I just wanted to have the part replaced before it fails completely

Mikes350z 06-27-2012 02:54 PM

No offense but this is the 8th dealer you have had a problem with? Maybe its you or how you treat them that they dont wanna help.

Find a new dealer and be nice and explain all your issues and hopefully they will help figure it all out.

The fuel gauge and tranny noise I think almost every has, multiple threads on here about the clunk and noises and fuel gauge not always lighting up or dropping.

Remove the tow hook and go somewhere new and see what happens.

cossie1600 06-27-2012 03:07 PM

I know someone would say that, that's why I said its funny how I am using the same Toyota and Mercedes dealer while I have to deal with a bunch of ******** at nissan

I got my Fuel Sending Unit replaced after two trips to the dealer. But is was a royal pain.

cossie1600 06-27-2012 03:19 PM

yeah you basically have to suck them off to get anything done, imagine trying to get them to solve the fuel starve

Cmike2780 06-27-2012 03:27 PM

I didn't even see the part about this being your 8th dealership. I'm hoping NNA has at least been contacted once? It does sound a bit hard to believe that no one among 8 dealerships would help you solve a problem that's covered under warranty.

..also, are the "new" problems really problems?

#1: You already know personally that the tranny fluid is clean. Did they blame the noise on this? If they were just trying to state a "fact", it doesn't really affect you. You could always change it again if it makes you feel better.

#2: You know for a fact it's not a problem, so it's not really a problem unless they claim this is where the tranny noise is coming from which is BS. Remove it and go back in and prove them wrong or show them it's impossible.

#3: Rent/borrow/buy a scanner and see if there's any codes. I find it hard to believe 1,000 stored codes wouldn't throw a CEL.

Well 8 dealerships seems to be a ton of places to still get no help, it might not be you at all and if your mercedes and toyota dealer dont hassle you then perhaps you have had a string of bad luck with Nissan dealers...

Still, remove the tow hook and go to a new dealer and see what happens.

cossie1600 06-27-2012 03:38 PM

I am only at my second dealer with 370, 6 with 350.

I don't have a cell, the tec 2 can read other codes that we cant

I see... and I think you mean consult-3. If the code was something major, it would have thrown a CEL or would show a pending code on an OBD scanner, so I would really worry too much about it. I don't know enough about what the consult-3 can tell you, to be honest.

kenchan 06-27-2012 04:17 PM

maybe uprev can clear it or read it or something? not sure either. i only read the DTC's that's scannable.

You are right I am sorry. TEC II is Toyota i believe. Anyhow there are tons of information they can get from those computers. Anyway I am over it, time for a new dealer when winter hits. I am not losing any summer driving time to have them fool around with it when they have no intentions to fix anything.

Tech2 is GM

cossie1600 06-27-2012 07:44 PM

close enough, i knew it was one of the brand i had before....

buddyZ 06-27-2012 08:38 PM

After my 3 year lease is up, i dont think i will continue business with Nissan. The overall experiences have been Terrible, 2005 Frontier had so many recalls and cheap stuff happen to it i have stories for days. The whole process with dealerships raise my blood pressure to the point where i actually dont care if i go to jail just to knock one of the sleezbags out.. Its really scary how much i rage dealing with Nissan.

Those are great cars.

SiXK 06-28-2012 08:33 AM

I agree its the dealer, but crap, I live in orlando where there are FIVE nissan dealerships and they all act like they could not care less. The leader of the pack is REED NISSAN, they are the absolute worst. they know exactly how much they have to do so they can look at you and shrug their shoulders. They are awful.

I have driven a Nissan Z going on 23 years now. I've owned 5 in that time, but as of right now, I'll never buy another Nissan because of their people and service.

shadoquad 06-28-2012 08:39 AM

Well, I have a good amount of trust for Fusz Nissan and Norris Nissan. But I've dealt with a few shady Nissan dealers, too.

Also, Fred Beans Nissan seems pretty up-and-up. They're very responsive at least.

You're crying over issues with the Z now!! Imagine the audi TT-RS. Those are shop queens. I would hope you'd get better warranty repair with audi? But you never know? The grass may not be greener on the other side and you'd be paying a lot more in parts and labor if you needed serious work done??? Will you be using this audi for sport events as well?

you are absolutely right, same with my Benz. yet at least I know I will be treated with respect and great customer service. heck I will probably meet a milf at the dealer or they might have Jennifer love Hewitt giving massages in the waiting room

I guess this is what we get for buying a car for 30k.

ranting on a cell phone sry, I will list more specifics when I get a keyboard

i hate the f**kers too. bought a brand new maxima SV, brakes hum as my wife drive off. three times to two dealerships, "we looked over everything and cant find anything wrong, sir." f**k nissan

Whatever floats your boat brother. I've had quite a few nissans and they took good care of me. I know here in my area, there are 4 nissan dealerships to avoid.
But you've had so many bad experiences. Have you ever self analyzed your approach toward others on these issues. If you start off negative or complaining too much, people often get dismissed. I'm not saying you do? But hey... you never know?

I threw them the keys to fix four problems, they even had the car overnight. they then called me back and said nothing can be done, I am not sure what else I can do differently? I had no problem with Mercedes, Mazda, Toyota, Chevy to a point. yup its my fault for not sucking the Nissan kool aid

Shyyyt... I had unlimited problems with chevy and with mazda my FD had serious oil consumption issues that were never solved.

cossie1600 06-28-2012 11:49 AM

I had problems with my Chevy too. you know I understand car breaks. I hate it, but I understand. what I hate is when they don't give you the time to track down problems. I guess thy don't get paid on diagnostics, so they don't want to do it.

So why not go to an independent mechanic. Get the problem documented, then take it tto the dealer with the paperwork and make them fix it? Unfortunately you gotta push people to move bro.

cossie1600 06-28-2012 12:16 PM

I hope you are kidding right. So I am going to take a car, that is under warranty, pay someone a few hundred bucks to tell me things I already know? What is the mechanic going to tell me that I don't know about.

My transmission's bearing is making noise?
My fuel gauge is inaccurate?
My TPMS computer had codes stored in it?

I know you are a Nissan apologist, but really?

TheGreatOne 06-28-2012 12:43 PM

Sorry to hear about your trouble. The Nissans around here have been great, although I've only had one service so far. I have bought parts from two others. Courtesy drop off and pick up

Is it just me, when I roll up in my Z they seem to treat me extra special and I get special notifications in the mail.

My wife however hates BMW, the service has been horrible at one of the most popular ones, She wrote the the head Office. lets just say this, now she has a deal where she doesn't bring her car in.

They have to come pick it up on a flatbed or must come with a courtesy BMW for her to drive. She is a ball buster
