+1 on the Passport 9500ix, works and looks great with a rear-view mirror mount and console hard-wire, it has saved me a ton of times with K band.
I didn't even know what the hell the alarm sounded like when I got lasered a while back... I'm like, what the hell is that noise?, sounds like a weird cell phone ringing, then I look at my RD and is says: Laser threat!, I wasn't really hauling A** so I did not get pulled over but still freaked me out some. I just put a kick-A** stereo in my car (amps/sub), so I play my music allot louder now (louder than the 9500ix alarm), right now I am thinking about some type of brighter LED located on my dash somewhere that would light up BRIGHT when the detector goes off. There is another cool little android app called Trapster: http://trapster.com I live out in the sticks of Montana so there are not allot of traps and such, but if I lived in a metro area I think it would really help. Have fun! |
I agree with BONZO 100%. I have had very similar situations and he is absolutely right! I have had all types of radar detectors including the redline but V1 has the most range in my opinion especially with laser.

I have a BS beltronics V995 but it works awesome. Saved me from getting many a ticket. I pick up lasers about 1 to 2 miles away. Ka band. Wow. I pick those up like 5 to 7 miles away on the highway. I actually have to wait for the signal to get fairly strong to slow down cuz at 2 miles I'm picking them up wild on Ka on a highway.
Here in texas. The majority of street cops run ka while highways usually run LADAR... also rural areas run Ka. Which makes it great for me. Ka on the street is a shorter range than highway. On the street, I can get them at 1-2 miles I'm considering upgrading to the redline. I hear the range on those is even longer. |
