Going from C5 to the 370z isn't that much of a performance loss, if at all (assuming you didin't have a Z06). Now a C6 is a different story.
I love vettes and think they are sexy as hell, but I wouldn't buy a stock C6 as I'd HAVE to have a Z06. Knowing that a higher performing edition exists, I wouldn't be content with the base model. The 370z with bolt-ons is plenty fast and sexy as hell. To me, the base C6 isn't that aesthetically attractive (especially compared to the Z06). The base C5 is even less so. As recommended earlier, I'd drive one for yourself. I'm sure you'll enjoy. But I think the smart think to do at this point may be to wait a year or two to see what happens in the way of a C7 or an updated (possibly FI) Z. Or just lease something in the meantime.
