Default My PlastiDip Experience (with video!)

Decided to take the leap and plasti-dip my rims last night. It was almost 100% and high humidity here in Ohio, so not exactly the best day to try and do it.
I decided to take the car back to my parents since my dad has a large humidity and temperature controlled shop. The ideal climate for spraying was said to be 75 degrees with low humidity and wind...so thats what I went with.

The base (plain black) spray coats on pretty easy and is pretty thick stuff. We tossed on 2 coats of that, allowing 20-30 minutes of drying time for each. I was happy with just how it looked with the black base and almost tossed the wheels back on the car, BUT, I took a gamble and we started in on the silver metalizer. 3 coats were needed to give it the desired smoked/gunmetal look that I was going for, although after one coat the color was awesome! Overall it is great stuff and I am very happy with the turn out, especially for a $50 dollar job.

Now the real test will be how long it will last!

Looks great. Hopefully it stays on there for a good amount of time. Cant beat the price tag either way.

I was planning on getting some work in progress videos, however, I was really pushed for time and resources. So I just got it of overall progress. I did take a pic of the rims with the 2 coats of black but that is about it.

Looks good. From my experience, you probably should have done more coats. I did 3-4 of the black and then another 4 of the silver metalizer. Though mine got all ruined after getting my tires changed yesterday

Dang that sucks. That is what I am afraid of.

I am hoping I will be OK. The coats of black were HEAVY. Used an entire can for one coat on 2 wheels, with NO runs can you believe it?

I think one can of black per wheel would probably be good and it's what I will do next time I respray it.

This is what I'm left with after the tire change. This is the worst one, the other 3 aren't as bad.
