Well, you can either get a short throw shifter and solve the problem, or, you can do like the PWJDM kits, and roll an o-ring down around the shifter, then

Well, you can either get a short throw shifter and solve the problem, or, you can do like the PWJDM kits, and roll an o-ring down around the shifter, then put the boot back on and the (properly sized) o-ring should hold the collar of the shift boot flush with the bottom of the knob.
