I'm overall very happy with the car. Trust me, the car does look ugly in pictures but in person it looks much better than the previous ones. I like it much better than my '11.
I'll update with pics later.

I was supposed to test drive the 13 but got side-tracked with family emergency then fell ill to the point i was in the ER. The test drive never happened....
But thanks for the two main descriptions i needed... I owned an 09 and had an accident which led to the 2011.My biggest complaint about the 11 was the spring rate was slightly softer than the 09. IMHO Sports cars should ride stiff and not soft. The steering in the Z is stiff but i prefer muscle car steering stiffness, which is about 10% stiffer than the Z still.
That said, a softer suspension and lighter steering is definitely a turn off imho... If the Z35 follows suit a lightened steering and soft suspension? I will most likely go with a different sports car instead of the Z35. You can compensate the weak suspension easily but not weak steering. That's a big enough deal breaker for me. Thats why i left the G37s to the Z. Light steering made me sell and buy the 09 Z

Thanks for the light review.

Just sold my 2009z for the 2013 and WOW what a difference

Magic Bus 09-14-2012 03:59 PM

rhood, Congrats on the car and welcome to the 13 Club!!!

Care to go into the differences between the 09 & 13?

rhood 09-15-2012 08:25 AM

Absolutely, the 2009 was/is a GREAT car,but the 2013 is so much more refined. The road noise is MUCH improved, the car seems to be more tight and better handling. But over all improvements is the Navigation and technology package. The screen has a better resolution and when used for the DVD ,WOW! Very happy with the trade.

Can you elaborate on more tight and much improved? Lakeshow claims looser steering and softer suspension... What do you mean by tight? Road noise I expected to be much improved. What is the curb weight of a 2013? Did they add more sound deadening? I've never really had to much issue with road noise. It's something nissans are usually plagued with so im used to it.
How about stock exhaust note. Is it still the same? Our stock exhaust really sucks. i'm not a techy im an audiophile, so nav wouldnt be my option.

That's funny. What color was your '09?

I don't see too many 370Z's around here - they're, dare I say, "exclusive" (that's for UNKNOWN_370's sake :)).

Unknown, LakeShow said steering was lighter, not looser.

Let me re-elaborate and clarify, by softer suspension with the euro tuned shocks it takes bumps and pot holes less intensively than my 11' as it felt like I cracked my rim each time I hit something. As far as steering goes, the car is still fully connected and planted to the road. As far as lighter I meant a little more responsive, I guess I wasn't clear with that sorry.

I can take bumps pretty good compared to my 09. I hit a really bumpy road behind my house @ 50mph with no issue. In my 09 @ 40mph i was braking my back. I can feel every bump but its not jarring.
So are you saying you float over bumps now?

If its light or loose? wouldn't that equal not as tight as an 09-12 model??? Good to hear it's still planted though. I guess i just have to make that test drive myself.

rhood 09-15-2012 11:22 PM

my 2009 was Brilliant Silver with the roof painted black and I also had the LED lights, the only one in Tulsa. Great car but dont miss it. lol

The answer to your question is no. My G35 has heavier steering than my Z, but the Z has definitely tighter steering than my G. Light or heavy steering does not mean loose, just the effort that it takes to turn the steering wheel.

Yes I agree with you on the 2nd part, you definitely need to take a test drive in the 13.

peleincubus 09-16-2012 10:19 AM

so are parts going to be the same for the 13'?

for example the FI exhaust and swift springs?

Which goes back to what im saying... I got rid of the G37 because steering was light. I too came fron the G35 and noticed less feeback from the 37 in terms of heft which gave the 37 a shyttier responsiveness. Feedback and heft go together imho. Maybe its due to just being used to putting effort into the steering wheel to maneuver the car. But if turning is effortless with little to no resistance in the steering wheel. That means imho. A car went from sport to sporty. Sporty remains due to the point and shoot, directness of the sporty cars characteristic. Hence being called Sporty and not sport. sounds to me the Z is now 100% GT and it's lost the last of its sport. But I will test it just for shyts, giggles and knowledge.

Looser-lighter, imho is the same shyt. Lower resistance can be described by either word. Less resistance= reduction in sport characteristics. Too much resistance makes a car feel like a truck. The Z was weighted on the light side of heavy as it was but gave enormous feedback. Iho. A lil (maybe 5-7%) more heft was the only way to go.
An example of max heft for sporty driving would be a camaro SS, 5% more heft than it already has and it would feel like a truck. Mustang steering is my least favorite though its point and shootability is high. Corvettes have extremely well balanced steering feel. Again just my opinion.
