But, that's just me. Did you buy used or new? If new, they come out of the shipping containers ready to sell minus some things (like the NISMO suspension blocks or whatever they are). No need to swap calipers or anything stupid. |

honestly i thought sport packages come out of the factory with everything less the front diffuser installed. :) |

They just HAPPENED to find a box with the brakes in the back??? Either one of the tech's tried to pull a fast one so he could sell/install the brakes on a non-sport or the dealership itself is crooked and was going to offer it as an option to a non-sport... There is a good chance they tried to swap them on your car to finalize a deal with someone buying a non-sport model. Call/write Nissan ASAP. Congrats though! Still check for the LSD ASAP though just incase. |
Indeed, I am writing a letter to Nissan right now about this "box". I'm going to another Nissan dealer tomorrow to check the LSD. I already test it myself by doing what "kenchan" (first page) told me to do to check for LSD. But I'm not sure if they going to do the same thing but I just want to make sure.

If it was used, it would have made sense, but it does look like they tried to pull a fast one.
I know my friends who had a G35 with brembos and a touring 350z without them swapped the calipers before trading in at a chevy dealer, so its not out of the question that could have happened, but not on a new car. In fact, anyone thinking of trading in their sport package car would do financially well to swap brakes + cash with a base person near them if trading in, especially at a non nissan dealership. |
WOW....... Those crazy MOFO SOB's. I'm glad they set things straight for you. The bigger rotors & brakes look 10x's better than the small brakes/rotors.

this is why track guys will sometimes buy the base without sport package and get their preferred bbk, new LSD, new wheels. |

Holy crap this is scary! This is why you research the vehicle immensely before buying especially if you're dropping so much money. Its scary to think a dealership would do that to someone http://serve.mysmiley.net/scared/scared0008.gif
Glad you got everything worked out http://serve.mysmiley.net/happy/happy0025.gif |
"Oh, sorry about that, your brakes ended up in Pablo's trunk. I guess we will never know how that happened!"
|
That sounds sketchy of the dealer....

The rear diff is a bit more work to remove than calipers and rotors so you are probably fine but why trust them.
|
Someone was mucking about with your Z's brakes. The dealership first told you that you had the "Sport without the brake upgrade", but then magically found a box in the back with your parts. That's BS. Something fishy was definitely going on here, as others have said.

kenchan makes a good point though . . . Check to make sure you got the other parts that your Z was supposed to come with.
