Fast Intentions Exhaust Note

Uploaded videos of my Z w/ the non-res Fast Intentions exhaust & the Stillen Gen 3's. Considering getting some Fast Intentions non-res test pipes, but I don't want the sound to be overkill. What do you guy's think?

Sounds really good man. I like the way the F.I. sounds. Heard gomers for the first time this weekend and it sounded great. He has the F.I. full CBE and long tube headers on his NISMO. He has no CAI and is using stock filters.

Nice exhaust

Tbaber1990 06-12-2012 10:20 AM

honestly, I didn't even know about F.I. until I got my Z. It was already installed, boy, it sounds amazing... Nice Z, and good choice.. Im thinking about the G3 when I get back.. Did you have to reflash the ECU? Notice gains?

Huck 06-12-2012 02:25 PM

the exhaust itself yields about 19hp, and you don't have to reflash the ECU. You can get an Uprev tune which helps, but it's not necessary.

Same, never heard about F.I. until I got the Z.
So glad I came to this forum and it lead me to choose F.I. I'm loving my exhaust... it's the only mod I'm doing until I go FI.

LakeShow 06-12-2012 04:34 PM

Sounds awesome and looks great! You need a better take off/fly by video though!

Nissanboy 06-12-2012 04:35 PM

Here's my setup, F.I. LTH's & CBE no resonators. Bad camera too haha

Huck 06-12-2012 04:39 PM

:iagree: this video is what finally tipped the scales in FI's favor. I was thinking about it for a while, and then nissanboy posted this video. I listened to it like 4 times and then picked up the phone and called Tony to place my order.

Please translate

Fi
Cbe

and all the rest

forza370z 06-12-2012 10:50 PM

Fi = Fast Intentions exhaust system. It also could mean Forced Induction depends on the context.

Cbe = Cat back exhaust.

Nice sound clips OP! I love the FI CBE! But I think there is another CBE is equally awesome but people here hardly talking about it. That's the HKS Hi Power. Different exhaust note tho.

I had FI Carbon Fiber CBE on my g35 with HFC. It's not overkill the sound. But I heard FI CBE with the test pipe will sound even better!

buddyZ 06-12-2012 10:53 PM

hows the ground clearance on this exhaust? also will the carbon fiber sound different?

forza370z 06-12-2012 10:53 PM

Actually there are plenty of nice sick exhaust systems out there for Nissan cars. I hope this thread can help people to judge them although they are on G35s.

Tony from FI told me the way they design their exhaust system is to give the ground clearance like OEM. The carbon fiber will have the same tone but slightly louder.

Actually, their newest design makes it about 5/8" higher than oem at the lowest point IIRC, so you gain clearance

Well, I'm lowered on H&R springs and I have not scraped my exhaust at all. The clearance is fine for everyday driving, just be sure to go slow & at angles over speed bumps if your car is lowered.. just to be safe.

The HKS Hi Power exhaust comes with a hefty price tag though!!

Gonna be recording a few new video clips
- Better normal take-off
- Wide open throttle
- Some throttle blips
- Inside cabin
Stay tuned!

My favorite sound? Getting on it going down a freeway entrance ramp. I hit a 70 mph freeway at about 90 today. Funny to see the cars moving over for you knowing you're going to be 100 yards out in front of them at the merge.

Lol, I usually won't go as high as 90, but I sure as hell get to 80mph pretty damn fast. haha :driving:

Nope, it's that sweet sounding hard down shift coming from non-res CF F.I CBE that does it for me

MarkGideon 06-27-2012 09:50 PM

I haven't decided on adding a CBE, yet. These clips make it very tempting. It looks like FI is at the top of my list if I do.

It's also the sexiest in my opinion.. its like putting a g-string on the z's *** :yum:

persiani 06-28-2012 12:26 AM

already spoke to you about the sexy sound, cant wait to see better clips, i went and ordered the res test pipe too

Now comes the hard part... Waiting :ugh2: What size resonator?

PapoZalsa 06-28-2012 07:18 AM

When I bought mine they were only a few in the entire U.S. Now everybody and their grandma has one.... :ugh2:

Tony F.I. is killing it with his small business.

But then again, you most likely purchased your Z in 2009.. which makes you, among the many, first year 370z production owner as well. 3 years later comes more Z buyers who probably had a similar mindset you did when you bought your car & exhaust..

god dam that sounds mean, also i got the 12' res, will sound like yours but just a tad deepr

bigsix 06-29-2012 01:55 AM

That's a cool sound: the mix of Fast Intentions exhaust + Stillen intake. I can see why these exhausts are so popular with some drivers on our Forum.

I also like Amuse and Nismo exhausts for the 370z. I think Infiniti make great sounding stock exhausts for the G37/IPL, too.

RN SHARK 06-29-2012 01:25 PM

I'm also running the Gen3 intakes with the 12" res FI CBE. Love the sound on downshifts! :driving:
I was wondering what the sound difference would be if I took my car back to Tony's shop and added the Long Tube Headers? Has anyone heard the sound difference in person?
I also need to keep the sound at or below 93.0 dBA @ 50ft, the noise restrictions for my local autocross events. :ugh2:

-EDIT- Oh, and I'm on Swift springs and the ground clearance has not been an issue. Like others have said, just take it slow when you see dips or bumps. The lowest point is at the bottom of the canisters, but Tony said he has gotten it 5/8" higher than stock.

Why did you opt for 12" resonators instead of 18"?

Huck 06-29-2012 06:39 PM

The 12" ones are just a tad louder :driving:

Very nice! Can you PLEASE tell me where you got your black emblems and door handles from? If you got them painted, what paint code did you use?

I just made a video to try to help people out with making the decision of whether you like the sound or not. This is the non res'd CBE with carbon fiber cans. I took the video with my iPhone. I actually borrowed a friends Zoom "hi def" sound recorder, and my iPhone ended up sounding better lol. The iPhone just picked up a little more of the treble, high pitched sounds that you don't really hear when you hear it in person, but overall it was pretty good.
