im just using a simple panasonic wireless indoor network camera. if it wasn't for HOA, i would still have the full blown security camera with night vision, but i was asked to remove them from the exterior of the house as neighbors (not my next door neighbors cause i talked to them) were complaining that it looked ugly. i mean the thing is only 5" long and 3" in diameter it's barely even visible from the street.

so wat i started doing is installed flourescent twisty bulbs with photocell premounted in my porch and driveway exterior lamps and use that as my lighting. it actually works pretty well with the network camera. the image is on the grainy side but i can still see who it is and wat's happening in the middle of the night if needed from my droid. :p the camera is mounted inside the window.

during the day the image is no problem.

i have it setup so it sends me email with attachment of the pict when motion is detected. :) i can see in real time too from my droid using a IP camera app i bought.

there's better ones out there with night vision if you check amazon. just search network camera. :)

That is some real Mission Impossible, Spy-Kids, Ocean's 11, James Bond, Bruce Willis stuff you got there. It makes my "Dog bark = Grab Remington 870 that hangs over the Front Door" security system seem downright low-tech and old school. Oh well, it help support my "Hero Captain of Battleship" image.

I thought about getting a camera setup from Costco. I probably should talk to my Security company to see what they offer. Wireless would be best.

:icon18: hahaha. it's really not that high tech. the biggest issue was getting through the thick firewall my wife has on her network at home. thing is like a virgin vault with 10ft doors. :ugh2: :icon17:

and my question to her was... ummm...wat's in the server that's SOOOOO important? and she teased 'well there are picture of you sleeping butt-naked that i took somewhere in the server...do you want the world to see this ken-san?' um.... no? :ugh2: :wtf2:

yah, we have ADT on the house and they do have their own setups but it's A LOT of money for wat they offer. another thing is how your security for your network is setup. at the end, they will ask you to figure it out. :rofl2:

and while the network is wireless, the camera still needs power so it's not entirely stick-on-a-wall-and-walla deal. :icon17: some planning and trial/error is needed.
