I'm quite serious. Looking like a professional is all about looking safe and lame. short hair, boring dress clothes, black shoes. When it comes to cars, clean car that looks as stock as possible.

I don't think too many CEO's drive to work in a slammed hella-flush hoopty with a rust hood and hot pink rims.

It's all about appearing straight-laced. Spending money modding cars does not give the impression of straight-laced.

:iagree: Thats why every mainstream safe (read boring) car in the world comes with silver wheels. If you have silver wheels you will blend in with everyone else becasue they all have silver wheels too. In fact I think that extends to silver cars as well.

I come from a school of thought that the wheels on a car should always be a silver or chrome finish.

Making the wheels black or painted the same color of the car or black tires just tends to lose them in the whole paint scheme.

You put nice wheels on the car to stand out and not get lost in your car tires or look plain shitty to begin with. Flat finishes should be avoided at all costs.

Other thing to avoid is the "STREET DORK" look, where you bolt every cheap thing on or spray on finishes.

The original Nissan designers probably played a lot with different color combinations , even on the wheels and in the end they probably kept coming back Silver or Chrome wheels looking best.

Silver or chrome wheels also help to break up the color scheme on a single color paint job, its like painting your car 2 different colors or a 2 tone paint job, compared to a single solid color.

Yeah! And everyone knows owning a 370z is all about blending in and conforming to the norms of middle management!

Give me a break. Your career success or lack of it has nothing do with the car you drive.

If you're looking for a professional car, you get a BMW, if you want a badass car you can drive the hell out of you get a Z.

I've got no idea what a "professional" car looks like... But I know what a classy car looks like. If you want to exude class, skip the 370Z. While there's nothing low class about the Z, it's not the classiest car in it's price range. Personally, I'd buy the Z, get some spacers and coilovers, and not care what anyone thinks.

I think Shado was just trying to explain what a professional and non-professional look is. In other words, a stock car going to work is more acceptable than a modded one if you go by appearance. But I don't think he was saying yey or ney as to where the Z stands in this spectrum...
I agree with you though. I don't think a 370z gives any type of professional impression. I edefinately think, infiniti, BMW, Lexus fill that gap. If you can't afford one? I think accord, altima, and camry nicely packaged and with upgraded alloys make an acceptable alternative. A Z just says... "I'm chillin" stock or modded.

G37 is the "Professional" 370Z.

My eyes feel as if black wheels have a cheap/bland feel to the car. Maybe I relate it to steel wheels on a base model-beater car. Black rims give off almost a dirty vibe. Chrome rims give off a ghetto vibe. The clean stock 370z rims give off a sexy, sharp, chic vibe. But again...that's all subjective. I personally like 5 star silver wheels...simple, sporty, blends well with many cars, and they're easy to clean.

Some guys love black or chrome rims. Some don't. Get what you like...because you're not driving a Lexus in the first place.

Meanwhile, I'm a lead systems engineer and I daily drive my Z to work. It gets all the stares and applauds...but probably if I were program management they'd go "...wtf?" lol
