If it were just some light to moderate snow, fixing the traction problem would work. But this is alaska. Some of the main roads may be plowed well enough to drive down, but for the most part, I probably wouldn't even be able to get out of the neighborhood. This is the kind of place where if you left your car sitting outside, you could actually lose it in the snow.
