pulled too far over parking curb

:shakes head:, as above I pulled up too far over the parking space and the small piece of plastic that is under the front (I have a sport pack) got all scratched up. I would like to replace it with a new OEM one any help on where I could find that?

JARblue 04-25-2012 08:48 PM

ours scratches on our driveway too easily... I just pull out a razor blade and trim it regularly to keep it looking clean

I've seen it go on the forums for around $20 + shipping so you could just keep your eye out for that. Otherwise I'm sure a google search of 370z front spoiler or chin spoiler should work fine.

stratburst 04-25-2012 08:49 PM

Try Z1 They are a sponsor...
OEM Chin Spoiler (Aero Package)

:iagree: It is there to help prevent you from actually scratching your front bumper & losing some paint. I have about an inch to maybe an inch & a half of the skid pad under my Nismo front bumper & I have scraped the bottom a couple of times trying to pull into my driveway. I have tried pulling up in an angle, but that didn't seem to help. I wouldn't worry about replacing it.

kenchan 04-25-2012 09:24 PM

was it SPOHN that chopped off part of the factory lip off for a nice clean finish?

bdavis89 04-25-2012 09:52 PM

Pointless. You learn to live with it. Coming from someone who is OCD about these things, I almost had a heart attack when I first scraped it. Since then I try to use angles and hit it as little as possible, but it happens. You've got to realize its not noticeable anyways unless you're looking for it down there at the right angle.

:iagree:
Yup... I'm OCD with my whip. My neighbors kinda make fun of me and tell me I have the cleanest car in texas due to it barely ever having dust or spots. Lol. But I learned that that scraping the lip is probably saving my car. Its like early warning when it scrapes, it stops u from doing something stupid.

kenchan 04-25-2012 10:14 PM

i would replace it. :p

Ridgerunner 04-25-2012 10:31 PM

No sense putting a new one on, you will surely rough it up also. I have taken some sandpaper to mine every six months to smooth it out again. After that put on some back to black dressing to put color back to it.

Meh, sounds like too much work. Consensus is that replacing it on a bi-weekly basis will keep it nice, clean, black and scratch free for the duration of the car's life! :stirthepot:

sarcasm? Better be magical for $15 for 2oz...

11Thumper 04-26-2012 12:36 AM

You'll replace it monthly...

Stop the OCD and just drive it.

Waiz 04-26-2012 12:47 AM

It's going to happen again unless you start to park further away from the stoppers

This only get's worse once you're lowered, believe me :(

:iagree: I question how on earth are people with their rides so low have no problems at all. I scrap every time I pull in the driveway & even if I go in at an angle. My ride isn't even lowered.

I have learned to avoid areas all together or use a ton of angle in order to get into steep driveways.

It still makes me cringe when I hear the bumper scraping :icon14:

+1....... You have no idea. This Friday the 27th will be two weeks that I have had my car & not too much that can be done. It is only scrapping the skid pad underneath, but who in the hell is going to look underneath to check it out. I don't anybody really would.

Gauge 04-26-2012 08:18 AM

Honestly it's there to get scratched, I wouldn't bother replacing it.

nono, i actually have a bottle of BlackWow i bought 4-5yrs ago and im still using it. you dont need to apply much, and i spread it evenly with a hard foam applicator.

richard (octane guy) is the guy that invented it with his dad. it's a great product.

I look at the wear on my chin spoiler as a badge of honor. I'd love to wear mine down flush through honest cornering. I never trim it either. It self trims.

exactly............

kenchan 04-26-2012 11:08 AM

no it is not there to get scratched... lol it is not a bumper or curb finder.

MacLean 04-26-2012 12:14 PM

You know....it is just plan disgusting looking, so just take it off completely. You "should be" fine w/o it. It is only decoration & has no real purpose. :eekdance:

kenchan 04-26-2012 12:46 PM

actually it does function... according to nissan atleast.

tjlazer 04-26-2012 03:23 PM

Don't bother buying a new one!

Just fix it:

mr. kenchan, we must be separated at birth! I thought I was the only person that used Black Wow.

Hands down, it is THE best product for black trim; looks great and lasts for months.

Again, story of my life. I just had my lowering springs removed because of scraping issues. The inner loop of Houston is no place to drive a lowered car. Even after raising my car, I can not pull out of my driveway front first.
