Nooooo!!! LAME! The cool fobs "Not for M/T"!!!!

semtex 01-30-2009 07:53 PM

Did you see the price on those things after conversion to USD? yeesh!

Crash 01-30-2009 08:08 PM

Meh... I didn't even convert the price. The second I saw that it's not for M/T, I didn't even bother. I won't be driving an auto until my left leg gets chopped off and fed to dinosaurs.

No Backup camera either. I wanted to see how it was in relation to the aftermarket ones. Sensors would have been nice to have. This is what I am talking about. Nissan could re-price these reasonably here in the US. Offer these as options to us.

I think we will eventually see some of these options but it would have been nice if they were already available. More personaliztion is a good thing.:ughdance:

That's pretty lame. Obviously because of the remote start, but still ... lame.

Anyone order the sport horn yet??? While I love the car, the stock horn can't match the rest of the car's character. I'm about to order, but I'd like to know how tough it is to install and how it sounds.

Let me tell you, those corner sensors would have been worth their weight in gold. The car has very difficult sight lines when you're in close quarters.

If Nissan would change the MT so you don't have to depress the clutch to start, we could have the key fobs (even if the car is in neutral, you have to press the clutch to start it....totally unnecessary). They could easily give us the fob and program the car to NOT start if the car is in gear. Then we'd just leave it in neutral with the e-brake engaged.

I'm mostly interested in the keyfob. Any idea if it would actually work with a US model, and/or what's required to get it mated to the car?

Are you referencing the key fob remote with the auto start?

Yeah, the one described as:

Answer back model. Function: Engine start/ stop. Door lock/ un-lock. Rear defogger control system. Check the car situation with LC monitor. NOT functioned with security system. NOT for M/T.
I wish we had a better description of what this really means. "Check car situation"? "LC monitor"? Also there's an "Answer-back" and non-Answer-back. I assume that means lock/unlock status, etc are reported back from the car to the remote's display.

The answer back gives feedback acknowledging functions you chose actually happened. The security system is already on the car with the Intelligent Key, and this remote is an adjunct to your Intelligent Key, not a replacement; you will now be carrying two remotes with you. What I am hoping is that you can open the trunk with the Z running versus the current situation.

This is the one I want to purchase too.

BTW, you can open the trunk with the car running if you're outside. For my auto, I have to be in park with the parking brake engaged. I assume neutral + parking brake on the 6MT would do the same.

Thanks for the tip as I have not tried it with the parking brake engaged!
