The average American driver has no lane discipline. That is a huge problem in this country.

I see it every day. It's amazing. Today on 80 east between Cap City FWY and Loomis there were three of them -- all drifting, all going slow, all on cell phones.

To put it mildly. Im a US trained driver - Lets go over that syllabus:
1- night with the book
1- 5min lesson in parallel parking and bam! The next day Im legal in a car at age 16. Thats very very wrong.

They wouldnt give me the keys to a red flyer wagon here in Germany if I tried that. Getting a license here is not easy or cheap for anyone.

Im amazed at the discipline I see here. Some one else posted that I was thinking Germany is better than the US. Yes Im afraid for car culture and driving it is. No question.

I like the Autobahn but there are idiots driving on it like anywhere else. The rule of thumb while on it is to stay to the far right unless passing. Most everyone follows this except for a few idiots. While driving up to Berlin an Audi and BMW passed me like I was sitting still and I was giving the crappy rental I had at the time (Opel) all it had. Well about half hour after they passed me I came over a small hill and it was lit up like Christmas where the emergency crew was working the wreck caused by one of these guys running over a slower moving vehicle on the Autobahn. I doubt either driver made it out of that wreck sadly. I wasn't there but either the BMW and Audi were still racing and going 2 wide causing the accident when they encountered the vehicle in the middle lane or the slow vehicle was in the left lane and they couldn't both manuever around it fast enough to avoid a high speed wreck. It didn't help that it was night time so out driving your headlights wasn't too smart to begin with.

Right man, and living in California I think we have it worse than anybody. Cali has provided me with some of the worst drivers I've ever shared the road with.

I'm sure GTM will continue to improve their products and the Z is without a doubt a great value but I wanted a car with import build quality, more torque and astounding handling and feedback. The Z has the build quality and the good-great handling but issues such as lack of an oil cooler, a horrible stock exhaust note and full torque unobtainable until 4750rpm were some of the things I didn't like.

I built a great Z, I loved it very much, I sold it and in hindsight there are characteristics of the car that could be improved. I had my "highway altercations" like some and had my share of glorious moments (I promise as safely as I could). Honestly, when you get left standing by a lightly tuned Evo X, STi, 5.0 Stang, 135i or dare I say a Genesis (I highly doubt it though) the last thing you are thinking is hey I got a good value.

Hahahahaaa.... genesis coupe???

Nissan 0-60 Times & Nissan Quarter Mile Times | Nissan Skyline GTR 0-60, Maxima 0-60, Altima SE-R, Murano, 350z, 2012 370z and 2011 Titan 0 to 60 stats!

Hyundai 0-60 Times & Hyundai Quarter Mile Times | Hyundai Genesis 0-60, Sonata, Elantra, Accent, Tiburon, Santa Fe and 2011 Hyundai 0 to 60 stats!

The gen has gotten better but still hasn't surpassed 370z times stock for stock. While the Z can still push quarters as low as 12.9 with the auto and 13.0 with the manual. The gen has only pulled 13.5 thus far on the 2013. Modded is always a drivers race so I'm not even going to address the hypothesis.

Try living in Jacksonville where apparently it is extremely difficult to drive on a straight road and not get in an accident. It is ridiculous here. Too many drivers suffering from I-95 deliria I guess.

Im from LA area to begin with. Cell phones talkers/texters were always causing issues. Its insane. Rare sight here in Germany.

Yes it does happen and if you get caught its 40euros and a point on your license now. Nothing like the daily epidemic of stupidity in LA!!

brucelidat 04-18-2012 03:00 PM

new genesis 3.8 still isnt faster, in case anyone thinks it is. 5.0 0-60.. its about the same, with guaranteed crappier handling, and thats ALREADY with boost

The boosted gen does it in 6 seconds. The 3.8 v6 does it in 5. But there 5 is pushing it out to 5. Pushing it out we are in the mid 4's.

Not in the 5 boroughs of NYC. They put you through the ringer for a license. Real world driving on some of the worst posted streets in the city. They expect you to know the rules with no consistant signs posted. Which is good because it shows how much you really know. Also they make you go on the highway. At least they did when I got mine... And they test you for 30min, not 10 like here in tx and outer new york.I would say brooklyn has the hardest road test. Staten island and long island has it good with that. They get the national parking lot standard.
