i love this about the 370
i spent easter weekend in shreveport, which is one of the three biggest cities in louisiana. i decided to take notice of how many 370's i would see while spending time here. back home, i have only seen 3 all year, not including my own. first let me say that i saw over 100 mustangs, literally. almost all the latest generation. gag. almost as many camaros, also new generation. lots of corvettes too. then i had a few smiles when i spotted a blue 350 in the neighborhood we were staying at. also ran across a custom shop, which had a (claimed) 500hp white 370, which looked nice, and spotted a z32 (purple, YUK!) but i love the 300zx! then i saw a 79 datsun with original paint in exellent shape! i snapped a photo but it will be forever before i can post. as for the 370??... ONE!! only one! i love that these cars are a rare sight, at least around here anyway. i bet on an average there are a ton more mustangs, camaros, etc than there are 370's. and as much as i love to salute the fellow 370 owners, i like having something different than everyone else!

She's still a rare car. I'm in lower Delaware for the weekend and as you said Mustangs, Camaros and 911's everywhere . The only 370 that I've seen all weekend is mine!
And everywhere we go people just seem to stop and look at the Z! |
i saw a black Z yesterday on the way back from cars and coffee... though thats the first one in about 2-3 months i've seen. haven't seen another CY one in over 2 years in person.
|
thats awesome. the CY is an eye catcher, wish they offered it for 2012. i see heads turn often, and mine is just plain, base, no mods.
|
Yes even around my parts the 370 is quite rare
|
Yup... even here in the DFW area where Z34's sell pretty well, I see a 370z about once every 2 to 3 weeks. I see a sport pkg Z once every 3-4 months. I can't believe how many people don't opt for the sprt pkg. For me the sprt pkg was the only MUST have.

See 2 or 3 a day in the Uptown area of Dallas when i'm in town and 1 or 2 on my drive to DFW.
|
This is something that also attracted me to this car is the rarity of seeing one, its nice to drive something that you dont see everywhere you go
|
jordan,
yea im here for a couple more hours, wish i had more time, could have met up with some of yall. yea i bet there are more around here than back home, if i would spend more time here im sure they would surface. maybe on july 4th weekend if im not in metarie ill post for a get together? anyway, happy easter guys! |
im in Cecil County Maryland and the 370 is certainly a rarity. on even the NICEST day out, i may see one 370. two or three 350's
its rarity only adds to its appeal and its shock and awe. there just simply isnt alot of people buying them, as compared to the mustangs (yawn) , comaros (yawn) LOL jk |
Thats partly why I chose it. I think i have seen one 370z since i moved to edmonton that wasn't mine
|
I live in a town of about 16,000. I have the only 370Z or 350Z - I have seen one 300Z around town. It's weird to come out of the grocery or a restaurant & find people standing around your car staring at it. Like it's a Veyron or something. LOL! I can't count the number of times I've been asked what it is.
|
I have owned my car for 1.5 years. I have seen about 7 370z total since I bought mine. I have seen 1 before I bought mine. 1.5 years later, I have only seen 1 other nismo on the street and that was just recently. This is all living in the city of Chicago.
|
Barely see them, which was also a selling point besides just being a Z in general.
I did see a black one this morning but outside of that, if its not a Z thats in our club, I might see one once every 3 weeks, and probably the same people lol |
Z's are super rare and I love that about them.

Not sure if it's me not going out much or what, but I rarely see any 370z's around my area as well.

lol not around Shreveport much tho |

agreed they are still rare at least here in northern alberta i have seen 3, and there are 2 gtr's running around town.
|
There are 3-4 others that park in the same lot as me at work. See them every day.
|
no car under 100k is really rare here in socal so although not a really rare thing, I still see less of them than most other cars like porsches. BMWs, benzes, and audis ar elike accords here also so def see less Zs than any of those. 350Zs are somewhat common though, so a lot of people who don't know may group us in with them and think they see a lot of us around here.
|
shadoquad, where do you live?

I love it too. I routinely go a month without seeing another one.
|
Since I bought mine last Dec. I have only seen one other in my area. That was this past week. I have seen about 4 350's in the same time period. The 370 is a rare sight in my area for sure.
|
Even in a city as big as NYC the 370z is rare.
You see tons of more exotic cars before you will spot another "Z" ..and when you think you spotted one it turns out to be a 350.. The 370z is a rare creature.. they can only be found in the "wild" during our meets..... & when they run in herds the "Z" simply turns heads ... :happydance: |
I'd probably like it better if the Z were rare due to deliberately low production numbers or something like that. But they're "rare" due to low sales numbers.
But there are a lot around the DC area. Not as common as cat turds Mustangs, but I still see them around quite often. |

I don't think is a sales issue, I just think not a lot people know the potential of this car. I confess, I myself didn't. People probably end up picking mustangs over the Z only because it's a more "popular" sports car and "well known" for it's power. It's like apple computers back in the days. It has always been better computers than PCs, but people just didn't know it's potential. :happydance: |

I blame that mostly on advertising, or the lack thereof. Most of the people I know who picked Mustangs over the Z did it because the car is "faster" and "costs the same". They are also more track ready and have greater tuning potential. But I love my Z. Don't get me wrong. I just don't value the rarity of the thing. I like other Z owners. I wish there were more. |

What we are toasting to the fact that the Z is an exceptionally beautiful car that can holds it own against other far more expensive/exotic cars.:happydance: IMO all American/German cars a dime a dozen in the US. The Japaneses flooded the low end market with "cheaper" cars but despite that the "Z" still holds a certain elite status here & abroad.. Quote:

Advertising ? Uhmmm I don't know. GT-Rs aren't advertised and I'm starting to see them around more often. Perhaps more often than the Z.
I love to see other Z drivers however I LOVE to be the only one with the car driving around and receiving all the compliments. Well thats why we have meets right. To gather every Z lover |
im all for community growth, no doubt. its just really nice not to see 50 cars per day identical to the one you drive. so tired of seeing new mustangs, and i dont even drive one. i can imagine it is frustrating or bothersome for mustang owners. or maybe its not at all, everyone is different i guess.
|
Agreed... I get annoyed driving down the road and within a 10 mile stretch, I've already seen several Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers and Challengers... I remember when American muscle cars were really something to behold.. now they're just a dime a dozen.
|
If you enjoy that about the Z, that's cool. I'm the opposite. I like seeing other Z's, giving Z waves. But I can also understand that seeing them on every corner would make them less special.
And even the GT-R has gotten more face time than the 370z over the years in magazines. |
