Our brake calipers[Akebono] are already very nice, why add a cover to it.?

BLUESLATE 03-31-2012 03:35 AM

Maybe his Z didn't come with sport package?

Here's mine. The stock/ base brakes work just fine for me, but they are fugly naked. I wasn't going to drop big bucks on new calipers just for the look.

Mike 03-31-2012 09:25 AM

My main powdercoating business is with corvette brakes. I can't tell you the number of customers who have bought those covers, then come to me afterwards saying they should have just had them powdercoated and not wasted their time and money on these cheap things.

So what you are saying is we have cars from a bubble gum machine and that these covers are like diamonds and will increase the value? :roflpuke2::roflpuke2:

Just check the classifieds section. From time to time you will see people selling their sport calipers.

:iagree:

Liquid_G 04-03-2012 10:47 PM

wow... Actually with the number of people here with fake body kits and fake wheels I'm not really surprised someone popped up with these.. Might as well stick on some fender vents and hood scoops.

GraphiteZ 04-03-2012 11:13 PM

If I don't like the way the original brakes look, I will replace my rims with steel wheels and hub caps before considering those MGP covers.

OMG.. I feel secondhand embarrassment that you have these on your car.

They're tacky like white tube socks in dress shoes.

If you choose to step up your caliper cover game, they got Nismo and Brembo covers available.

Brembo Covers

You could paint the calipers.... but dont use those covers... They are just sad IMHO...
Here is a blurry Picture of my Brembo Big Brake on my Z.

Mike 04-04-2012 07:48 PM

you know, maybe if they were plain with nothing on them, they might look almost acceptable. But I've seen them in person and the cheesy stickers that look like bolt heads are really ridiculous.

Attachment 44982What's wrong with this? It sure looks better than the base brakes.

ddvette9 04-18-2012 08:55 PM

Dr evil they look really good man. Don't listen to the people on here. They take offense when something isn't thousands of dollars and JDM. So sad and narrow minded. Nice post man!!!

Where did you get them and what's the install like. I'm gonna pick a pair up

Haters gonna hate! Here's the link; http://calipercovers.com/ . The install is super easy, pull off the wheels, snap on a pair of clips , attach with two hex nuts and you are done! :tiphat:

I don't know man, this is different than buying knock off wheels. A wheel is still a wheel, regardless of quality/brand. But this is a caliper cover. It's like pretending to have a functioning BBK, and it won't fool any real car guys from any distance. I have the base brakes, and I would never do this. Get a BBK or keep it classy and stock, don't put a piece of plastic over it. Not hating, just have more respect for the Z than this.

Don't listen to these assclowns, 99.9% of the population would never know the difference and if they did who gives a sh1t? It's not like your're sticking AMG stickers on your car (people do that all the time) and pretending to have something you don't, you're just dressing up the calipers. Hundreds of Z other 370 owners have done something to dress up their car, so don't listen the the hypocrites.

Waiz 04-20-2012 02:07 AM

Fakers gone fake

:roflpuke2:

CCastro 04-20-2012 02:09 AM

they look fine to me... if he wants to dress up his car, fine... he isn't faking anything, he just doesn't want/need a BBK... and those are nicer covers than others that i have seen.

sfearl1 04-20-2012 07:46 AM

if anything, paint your calipers and throw some Nissan stickers on there. that'll dress up your base brakes just fine. don't do that to a Z man.

I'm not trying to pretend anything. I don't like the way the base calipers look.
Why do you think they say Nissan? A pretender would put Brembo or something else on them. It simply covers a very well functioning, albit ugly caliper. 'Nuf said!

m4a1mustang 04-20-2012 08:02 AM

I don't think a caliper cover is a big deal as long as it's just a flat cover to hide the ugliness of stock brakes.

But when you start getting into the covers that make it look like you've got a 2-3-4 pot caliper with fake bolts or "NISMO, Brembo, etc." on them then it gets really ricey.

exactly.. it's just hiding the stock caliper, now if you did this to the stock big brakes...
