The best (and least offensive) answer that you will get will be from the insurance company themselves.

There's a rule that says if you use the word expansive in place of the word expensive, the insurance company can expand your payments way way out to like $4k!

Lol flaming the guy a bit much? That is pretty damn expensive. I pay 142 a month which adds up to about 1700.00 a yr. This is for a 2011 Nismo RED and I'm 29 yr old male.

Hot damn, that is insane. I had to pay $1900/year and I thought that was expensive. However, this was after my mom had an accident in the G37 that cost $8000 in repairs and got a speeding ticket a few months before that. The way our insurance worked was that it was split between the family.

But I'm 18, and when we got the Z, I'd only been driving 2 years. Plus, we are asian, and we all know the asian stereotype when it comes to driving XD The only thing I had going for me was a perfect record and a good student discount, no driving classes in high school.

And $1900/yr was ridiculous, and we were able to get it down to $1600 a year a few months ago.

The 370z definitely shouldn't be THAT high to insure. I don't think accident rates are as high as a lot of other sports cars in this range, since it's usually sold to more mature drivers. Maybe they feel like they could charge that much due to lack of competition. OR maybe they expect you to wreck in the cold snowy months?

How much coverage do you have though? That could make a huge difference.

I was speaking purely in the generalized reasoning that insurance companies use to calculate rates. You are a statistical anomaly.

Thanks for the feed back everyone. I need to check at ICBC on the insurance to see what and what is being charged. I only have the basic one 100 I suppose.
My record is all clean no accidents or any claims what so ever. The only ticket I ever got was from one BS parking meter. I paid for parking of course, but didnt see the 'tinniest sticker in the world' covered with dirt says no parking between 3-6pm..

I hear where you are coming from. I always get defensive when I hear that because we are not ALL like that! :tiphat:

im paying $877 a year for full or maxium coverage. (travelers insurance) although i have no tickets, arrests, Wrecks or DUI's on my record

they told me the Z isnt considered a sports car because it doesnt have a turbo in it, they said if it had a turbo, oh yea the insrurance would sky rocket but mine didnt. so it went up and then 3 months later dropped 300 bucks to 877

Who do you have your insurance with lol. I'm 23 and paying $233 a month.

Also don't forget guys that location plays a major roll in price too.

lol when i actually bought the car i was 21 i turned 22 in may, bought the car April 4th, 2011. i have Travelers insurance

i called them up and asked and they said:

"what type of car is it?
" 2011 Nissan 370z" i said bracing for a high rate.
"does it have a turbo?"
"no it doesnt"
" well then its not considered a sports car to us, your rate a year only increases a few hundred a year."

my parents were banking on the insurance sky rocketing and me having to give the car back. then the call came in and they were all ears listening in and when they heard that they both looked at each other like "well sh*t..... that backfired on us"
"really?!?!"
" yes if it had a turbo then yes it would be a sports car to us"

and THEN not 5 months or so later, i get a letter saying "dear Mr Gainey, we have reviewed your policy and your record and due to your outstanding driving, no arrests, no DUI's no crashes, your rate has dropped 300 dollars.

sonic370 03-27-2012 08:38 PM
