s2000! great car, although a little outdated from todays performance specs.
cayman! handles quite well but waayy over my price range |
S2000, Evo , Sti, m3coupe, g35,
|
'11 STi, '11 Mustang GT. Ended up also getting the '11 STi.
Now considering Audi TTRS, next model Cayman R, or next model Lotus. That won't be for a couple years though. |
Evo X MR or SE (paddle shifters) - decided against it because I wouldn't be able to control myself and end up modding it to hell.
E90 M3 - expensive, even pre-owned, can afford it, but not the maintenance considering how unreliable it is. 135/335 - can comfortably afford it, but didn't want a "me too" car that breaks down as often as it does STI hatchback - breifly thought about this, then realized i'm a Mitsu fanboy. New Gen coupe V6 - realized the Z is a much better sports car. |
* * * If I was in the market for a 370z, I'd also look at:
NEW -Scion FR-S -Subaru BRZ -Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0t or 3.8 -Honda Civic Si -Audi A4 -Audi TT -BMW 135i or 128i -BMW 328i (F30) -Lexus IS350 -Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart -Nissan Maxima USED -Porsche 911 carrera (996) -Nissan 350z -Audi S4 (B6 or B7) -BMW M3 (E46) -Cadillac CTS-V (2004-2007 1st Gen.) -Dodge Challenger SRT8 (6.1 liter HEMI) -Infiniti G35 or G37 -Lotus Elise or Exige -Maserati GT (2001-2007) -Mercedes SLK55 AMG -Mercedes C55 AMG -Toyota Supra (Mark 4) REALITY I'm looking for a used car to buy as a daily driver now. These are some possible choices: -Nissan 300zx (Z31) -BMW 318i or 325i (E30) -Mercedes-Benz S class, C class, or 190e -Lexus LS400 -Toyota Celica -Audi 90 or Cabriolet I've never owned a Z car before. I thought I could buy a Z31 as an introduction to the line. In the near future, I'd like to own a 370z. |
Everything with two doors and RWD under $60k and a couple with 4 doors and AWD.
|
I looked at quite a few cars before I got my Z. A 2003/2004 Cobra, a new 5.0, all years of STI's (I actually was going to buy an 04 before the owner backed out), evo's (but I drove a lancer at the time, so I didn't want the same car) and lastly s2000's. Every time I see an STI though, I always wonder what if haha.
|
All of these were considered: All used
335i Charger SRT 8 CTS V Evo IX MR G37S E46 M3 ...None really came close to the total package of the Z. Really wanted a factory turbo'd car though and nearly pulled the trigger on a 335i but the reliability killed me |
EVO X and STI.
Happy i went with the Z |
Ferrari F430.
But I just like the Z so much so I dropped the Ferrari. :excited: Seriously.. could be a Z4 or 335cabrio. But yes, like the Z much better. |
this isnt the what dream car would you have considered man :icon18:
|

or an Evo X FQ400 / 500.. |
GTR
............. Just couldn't afford it! |
GT-R same as everyone else... couldn't afford it but not totally out of the picture in the future. The Z is still a much more practical and little brother of the GT-R IMO.
EVO-X MR: Performs better but is for a teenager IMO... which I am NOT. Liked the moding potential, but like someone else mentioned... would have blown it up or my bank account :icon17::icon17: 370Z NISMO: Is what I settled on.... IMO: It just a classy and sexy car period... It is for those who have sports car wisdom..... its been my dream for years and way better than my Porsche 930 I had 12 years ago.... which was also sexy... but spent most of its time in the shop. |
I considered the following cars before buying my Z:
92 Dodge Viper 2002 ZO6 Corvette 2010 Mustang GT 2010 Camaro SS 2010 Subaru 2006/2007 EVO |

I was looking for a NISMO 350Z at the time and found the NSIMO 370Z. I would have gone for a Maxima 4DSC or a G37 Sport Sedan as well. |
STI and 135i
|
C63 G37 STI EVO. Glad I chose the Z
|
Evo,C6 and M3 !

I have always loved the Z, especially the 370 when it came out.
A while back I googled "Top 10: Best 2010 Sports Cars Under $50,000" I read through each one intently, 10, 9, 8... Well, when I got to number one, THAT WAS IT, I was all in for a Z! Granted I did not buy the nismo model, I still love it! |
For me it was the dream to build a 65 Cobra, but going back to school for the next 5 years sucked the air out of that with no time to build it & getting older everyday. I didn't want to just buy one. a Cayman S was high on the list, but not really affordable for me to own not to mention the 911 Turbo . I had been looking at the Z's for a few years & was digging the style. One day after stopping in a dealer to take a closer look to get some price figures. After test driving one, I knew I wanted one.
Definitely love the car & have not been this jazzed about a car in a long long time. No doubt about it, I have Z- ites :o :ughdance: |
The 370Z had been my ideal car for a while, but I was also looking at the Genesis 3.8, GTI, WRX, Lancer Ralliart, and Mustang GT 5.0. The Genesis was too softly focused, the GTI was underpowered, the WRX and Ralliart both had unrefined interiors IMO, and the GT just felt too big for me. There weren't any EVO X's anywhere nearby so I didn't go out of my way to try it. In the end, driving the Z felt really special every time I went to test drive, so I knew it was right for me. It still makes me grin one year later :) None of the other cars had the same effect.
