Try buying one and putting it in your car for a few months and come back and report what you have found. I bought one for each of my cars, and many of my friends have purchased them now as well after seeing first hand how often they can save you... You dont have any real facts IMO to back up why you think they dont work. Are you a cop?

I think your missing the point of these tools. They are not meant to be you protection but just an aid to help you while you drive. I don't rely on a radar detector; I rely on my eyes/common sense and the radar detector is backup.

Well written :tiphat: I wish they could protect you from a speeding ticket because from time to time I do find myself keep up with the speeding traffic. At those times I'm in more of a risk then others in getting a ticket because of what I'm driving. The 370z does get noticed.

It's funny when I roll past an officer and know that I've been Lidar'd. You can see his smile turn to a frown because he didn't get this exotic that must have been speeding.

Be safe, Be kewl

Interstate 10 and 17 out of phoenix (to Cally and Nevada) are monitored by two small planes. IIRC correctly, they measure your speed based on how much time elapses from when hit one mile marker to another (which was probably already mentioned, but I dont' have the time to read through the entire thread).

A lot of people are referencing the south for sky monitoring. Anybody know if midwest has this anywhere?

TerribleONE 03-15-2012 03:45 PM

I know they do it in so cal.. cant say anything about the midwest though

When I ran a detector, I would cruise along the highway and wait until a faster car passed, let them get a little ahead and start pacing them. If we came up on a cop, my detector would go off, so I would slow down and they would get the ticket.
Has worked for me many times.
I called it running a rabbit.

I do that from time to time as well. Just watch out the cops that will come from behind.

That works .... :ugh2:

I think they had some detectors along with jammers in the cars, just using there findings to illustrate the point. With the advent of k band radar and hand held laser units, you simply are not going to beat them. You may not get nailed because the cop was clocking someone else or your speed wasn't enough for him to go after you. But most of the time if the cop has you targeted and you are clocked in his set speed range, then he will probably ticket you.

One again if anyone has a sight that posted real world independent lab testing, please do.

Hey Moe!!! Nice strategy. I have employed it successfully myself.

They don't use aircraft to report speed in mid-west Mi, that I know of.
