Definitely will have to get used to that.... Haha

What is your guys avg mpg?

I ran out of gas at around 248 miles, so with filling up to 17 gallons I'm at around 14+ mpg...

m4a1mustang 03-09-2012 08:27 AM

Still breaking the car in?

When I had my Z I'd average ~19-20 mpg with a mostly city commute.

Spikuh 03-09-2012 08:35 AM

I do more highway driving than city commuting so I average between 24 and 25. Still have to fill up every week though.

I did my first fill-up yesterday as well! Filled it up at 301 miles with 13 gallons. Still breaking the car in! :) You must be driving it hard!

f00d4tehg0dz 03-09-2012 08:42 AM

Gotcha. Yeah unfortunately its a lot of city driving for me in Tampa. Knew it would be bad gas mileage. But if its going to get better overtime, works for me then!

edit* sorry didn't realize the picture didn't show in my post originally.

nepali 03-09-2012 08:45 AM

Btw, my mpg is with stop-n-go 18 mile-trip (one way) on the higway.

XwChriswX 03-09-2012 09:29 AM

In my almost 2 years of ownership, I've never reset my avg mpg, and I'm sitting at 22.

Lots of highway and city driving. (33k to be exact)

TerribleONE 03-09-2012 10:59 AM

I get better than that even with a decently heavy foot!! Once your through the break in period things should get better

XBarbarian 03-09-2012 11:06 AM

Had mine.. 3 weeks... Avg MPG is climbing from 18.8...think about 20 iirc St. Pete here too, man! avoid the Howard Frankenstein! lol Think Im at 1100 miles now.. took (2) trips to Ft Myers included in that ( 130 ea way )

Haha! I will never go on the howard franklin. Unless I'm forced too....
Good to see more and more people in tampa area with Z's.
I guess i'll just have to break it in some more...

Still in break-in, but I am seeing mid 24's at 75mph on the freeway with AC on. Kind-of disappointing, and hope it increases to at LEAST what my Z06 got. Not that you buy a car like this for that, but you know, 505bhp vs. 332, one would hope...

During break in, I too got low MPG's. It went up after a few thousand miles, and on the highway, I now get 26, and the city is around 19.

Off topic, but aren't the LS-series motors in the Corvette notoriously good on highway mpg? Something to do with the really tall 6th gear and how little load the engine has due to the massive amount of torque it produces.

It should improve some up to around 25-26 if you are running 75. Can probably eek out mid 26 if you really watch your driving, but that is a lot of work.

As for how it will compare to the ZO6, I think they should be fairly close in fuel efficiency, but I am strickly talking from my gut on that one.

Welcome to the club! I $70 dollar myself to death :rofl2: I've been doing a lot of canyons runs on the weekend so my avg mpg is not norm for dd.

Why would you make that assumption?

Z06 Mileage, on paper, is 15/24
370Z on paper is 18/26

How much higher than 24 do you expect it to be?

Same day next year you might think this is record-breaking cheap. :icon17:

wheee! 03-09-2012 01:40 PM

Or just fill up in Canada and realize what a great value you guys are getting!!!!

Elric 03-09-2012 01:54 PM

I drive in the city mostly and my 09 Z only gets 15mpg..its now got 20k miles on her.
I tried once during a full tank of gas to never give too much gas. drive as smooth as possible and let go of the gas padel as much as possible and only got 260 miles...SAD FACE..

I heard it could go up to 5 dollars a gallon this summer? At least here in Florida... ><
Still I'll stick through it over losing this car. But if I have to pay 6 dollars a gallon, I may trade this in and get a smart car :barf:

Get a hybrid, buying a smart car is not so smart. :icon17:

I just filled mine up the other day for $67.
Good thing is I only fill the Z up once every month or so since I don't drive it that often. I have an Altima that fits daily driver duty.

nmjaxx9 03-09-2012 02:42 PM

Thats about on average what I pay every 4-5 days. :icon17:

For myself I am looking into getting a bike for around 5-7k. That has a much better chance of paying for itself than buying another vehicle.

f00d4tehg0dz 03-09-2012 02:54 PM

a bike wouldn't be a bad investment in the future if gas gets to crazy.

brucelidat 03-09-2012 05:23 PM

With a mix of city and highway as well as traffic on highway, I get about 21 on average. If it's mostly city, I'd be in the 80 -19 range probably. No traffic highway (drive from Vegas) got me 26.5. 9k+ miles so I'd say she's pretty broken in.

I got 26 out of my Z06, and 24 out of my 370Z, so far.

lol, well maybe your Z06 was a factory freak :bowrofl:

But I also got better mileage after break-in period, so that might be your issue.

We will see. It's not something I am crying over, but it is a few points in GM's corner for their "outdated" 505bhp engine that weighs less, and allows better economy than much newer designs with about half the displacement. Always made me shake my head when people knocked GM's engine technology. I'd say it's good stuff.

Oh, I concur. I love Corvette engines!

I think a fuel efficient little 4 banger makes more sense than a hybrid in terms of cost. A Civic, Corolla, or Focus gets pretty good mileage and cost way less than a hybrid. If I needed a practical little car, I'd probably get the Focus hatch.

LOL, don't get me wrong, compact car is always a good idea, it's just I wouldn't think the Smart Car is a good idea.

What my point is in response to the issue about people saying driving a Z with $5-6/gallon is not economically wise and they rather buy a Smart Car, so for similar price to a Z, a hybrid is a very good option over the Smart Car.

cheers

:icon17:

brucelidat 03-09-2012 06:46 PM

Yeah, the Smart car is a poor choice indeed.

It's not wise to spend $30K on a car and have it sit either....

A bike is a great option. I have two bikes ('09 Triumph Speed Triple and '01 Suzuki DR-Z400S converted to SM) that get decent gas mileage (35-45 mpg), and that is with going no-holds-bar and never having to worry about 'taking it easy'. Hopefully I can start using my bikes within a few weeks....

UNKNOWN_370 03-10-2012 09:14 AM

My Z is getting the shyytiest mileage. I get 300miles on the tank period. To get good mileage I had to granny it to such a degree that I will either get shot for accelerating that slow or fall asleep behind the wheel. I'm due for my oil change and I will have them check everything to make sure their isn't anything wrong. I was getting 19mpg's from my 09 driving it like I stole something. Driving this Z moderately and its giving me 2mpg's less.

Are you boosted? Haha. That's probably what I get after getting turbos.

My normal city driving is about 19-22 MPG, and highway is around 22-24. With or without turbos, that's what you'll see for daily and casual spirited driving (short bursts of boost haha). Of course, MPG will be even lower if I constantly flog it in traffic. Everyone can tell my driving habits by looking at the exhaust tips.

alcheng 03-10-2012 12:35 PM

Couple years ago I was having a trip and driving my 350z(at that time) to Boston from Toronto, so it is a 9 hours drive and I took off at around 12:00am so I'll arrive in the morning.

About half way I have to feed her so I stop by the service center and give her a full tank. So I fed her the gas and when the pump stopped, I saw the price on the display was almost $20 less than what I usually pay in Toronto.

I was like, "mmm.... the pump stops too early, it's not full yet......", since it is in gallon, so I have no idea how much gas I have put in because we use liter in Canada and it was 3am in the morning...

I tried to pump more gas in since I thought the tank wasn't full yet... then eventually realized the fuel price in US is just fricking cheap!!

LOL :icon18:
