Do you guys consider the Z a yuppie car?

My cousin and a couple of the guys that work for me keep riding my a%@ and saying my new toy is total yuppie ride. One of them works at the GM plant here and told me thanxs to you i'm loosing my job, i told him bulls#@t my purchase had nothing to do with it. I told him blame your president for forcing out GM's headhancho. I don't think it's a yuppie car.

RCZ 05-31-2009 03:11 PM

Your friend is an idiot.

StLRedrider 05-31-2009 03:15 PM

Yes, i know!!!!

frost 05-31-2009 03:23 PM

"Yuppie:
a young, ambitious, and well-educated city-dweller who has a professional career and an affluent lifestyle."

I've been called a lot worse than that!

chubbs 05-31-2009 03:35 PM

They seem to be a bit jealous.

Envy is a terrible thing.

Modshack 05-31-2009 03:59 PM

The president had NOTHING to do with it....GM's ineptitude and BAD decisions over MANY years had everthing to do with him potentially losing his job...The Gov. is acually trying to save his A$$

StLRedrider 05-31-2009 05:11 PM

That's cool, thanx for the clearifacation.

juan05 05-31-2009 05:16 PM

wow is not your fault u pick the BEST CAR for the money. talking car that are sporty.. and i agree your friend is an idiot. ignore them. GM (great mess) cars lol

WooZ 05-31-2009 05:20 PM

That guy ought to be blaming his own union for causing him to lose his job...

StLRedrider 05-31-2009 05:25 PM

He's only been there less than a year, so he's at the bottom of the food chain. He'll still will work for me and complain about it everyday.

WShade 05-31-2009 05:25 PM

:wtf2: Staying out of here..................

Pushing_Tin 05-31-2009 05:33 PM

I've never known anybody that thinks a Nissan is a yuppie/snobby car. Those sentiments are usually reserved for BMWs, Mercedez, Porsche etc. And it costs $30k!! What do they think about $60k Escalades, vettes and Cadillacs then? They cost twice as much!

And if GM built a quaility car across their line they wouldn't be in trouble today. I really wanted to buy American, and I looked at a C6 vette and both the Sky and Solstice, but they were just too crappy overall to fork over the same amount of money as my Z. We also own a Dodge truck and a Ford Focus so we have no problem buying domestic.

carguyg35 05-31-2009 05:33 PM

BMW is the ultimate yuppie machine. Not the Z. The Z is a dedicated sports car that doesn’t have room for the whole foods groceries and the Mac computer all at once.

Trips 05-31-2009 05:39 PM

Coming from a Bmw that was a normal comment but now in a 370z I don't think so.

KillerBee370 05-31-2009 05:43 PM

Yuppie? You mean like a G? :bowrofl:

No... far from it. Maybe a 325i but not a Z.

DIGItonium 05-31-2009 05:51 PM

Your friend has such low standards. So he's your friend? I rid myself of these types of people. I hear one guy insinuating that I'd get laid off and go broke after getting my Z. Whatever...

I had no intensions of making this thread all about me, i just was curious what you guys think. These guys go round and round all the time and it goes in one ear and out the other. I'm single, no kids and the Z looked like a awsome car i have always liked and i'm at a point in my life where if i want something i will buy it. This is my everyday driver and it sucks, too damn big.

WooZ 05-31-2009 06:37 PM

If you're not hauling anything why can't you make the Z your daily driver?

You own a Ford truck, and that d&ck head is saying that to you! Tell him to go blow himself!

m4a1mustang 05-31-2009 07:09 PM

Those Ford trucks are expensive. Only yuppies drive 'em!

Listen to dad and tell your friend to blow himself. He's a lousy SOB if he's just going to judge you by the car you drive. People like that are just envious of those who are more successful than them. Not worth your time.

FricFrac 05-31-2009 07:30 PM

Your friend is jelous. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess he's not in the same boat finacially as you, etc... Its too bad ppl judge people by what they have/don't have... regardless the Z is an awesome car and I'm glad people who don't like it don't buy it. I can't even count the number of new Camaros, Challengers, Mustangs, etc I see driving around town - they are a dime a dozen - there are only two 370Z as far as I know in my city (of around 450K ppl)

Alchemy 05-31-2009 08:25 PM

370Z a yuppie car?? Uhh... how bout an enthusiasts car!!!!

StLRedrider 06-01-2009 12:14 AM

The Government has made it worse for us, our taxes are going to Detroit! I've read that GM wants the country of China to build GM cars there, but I'm not sure if that is fact or propaganda!

Forrest 06-01-2009 04:11 PM

Capitalism.

If your company sucks and you cant sell your products its because they are not worthy of the consumer due to some one else is giving them a better product.

So you cant change to compete you must go down so some new comer can step in and make a better product to once again offer competition.

I'm rather excited and cant wait for these worthless companies to go down, i cant wait to see who replaces them with new exciting products for me and USA.

As for the Americans who are losing there jobs, it sucks i know. Every one loses there jobs, its a fact of life, you just have to be the smarter person who didn't blow it all and saved money for the bad times.

This is what i picture happens, people get a job at GM, making good money and think they are "rich" start living a life style there intelligence cant afford then lose there job, what are they qualified to do? Probably nothing because i dout they have BA's or AA's in a field. What degree do you have to be the dude who puts my tire on my car?

Take my self for example. I have no degree yet I make a good amount of money due to sheer luck. I posses above average intelligence so I excel at my current job. But I am aware that if I lose my job It would all come crumbling down due to I don't have a degree to back me up into another high paying job.

I change my life style based on this. I bought a 370z in cash knowing if I didn't I wouldn't be able to make the payments if something negative happened. I also have money still in the bank as a back up and estimated how many years I can live.

My dad use to tell me the story of the grasshopper and the ant. Winter time is coming lets see how many grasshoppers there are.

As for our rotten government giving money to the companies They are wasting our money. Our money should never be intended for things like that. Government has become such a waste and losts its purpose.

I am also currently enrolled for AA in computer science and Information, then going to get a BA in computer science because I know you need education.

Government were the ones too enforce the unions. So I say again, the government put GM into this position.

Majority of the people in this country voted for "more government control." We are getting now :ugh2:

I'm with you. The president is playing a lousy hand of cards dealt to him, and only time will tell if he played it well or not. But the bottom line is that GM mismanagement, greed combined with union greed caused the problem. GM never found a way to respond to quality efficient cars being made by other companies. By the time they started to understand they had already ruined their own reputation and still they did almost nothing to restore it.

People should remember that most so called "foreign cars" sold in America are made in America, using at least some American made content, by American workers, delivered, sold and repaired by Americans. My Honda motorcycle was made in Marysville Ohio by American workers with 74% American made content. By contrast, Harley's only have 71% American made content.

The bottom line here is that this isn't a simple black and white American vs Foreign issue. It is a world economy, and if we don't start competing in that economy we are doomed.

(jumping down off my soapbox)

This country needs some control right now after the greedy wall st types and the greedy bankers took advantage of all the loop holes they could when the financial industry was deregulated. That all happened before the election. Now you have a guy in there trying to clean things up and you've already declared him a failure after 4 months? I think you'll be seeing it differently in a few years when the mess has started to get straightened out.

In the meantime, there is no place in this country for businesses like GM and Chrysler that are so bloated they can't make a quality product or a profit. GM should be broken apart into manageable businesses working independently.

Not going to get to deep into it, but take a look at the Clinton era and look at what the government forced the wall street types to do with home loans.

Please answer this question for me then.

How did you expect GM to compete in this "world economy" when GM was FORCED (government pro unions) to pay their employees double compared to their foreign competitors while selling the same product??

It can't be done, simple business.

And that is what Bush inherited, but noone sees that.

When government has too much control, **** hits the fan.
