The hell of trying to get into a 370Z
*rant*
I want a Coupe/Sport/Touring/NAV/Manual 2012 370Z. Preferably in Gun Metallic. It's a simple request--a simple car--low $40's MSRP--pedestrian brand-- Yet I cannot find one. I had found one at a sponsoring dealer, and had everything worked out--only to discover when I spoke further with my bank today, that I would have to pay TTL on it when I got it to Louisiana. Where, if I trade my Z06 IN-state, I won't have to pay TT&L on it. I will get tax credit. That's nearly $3500 increase. I want the car, and that dealer has it coming in, but there is no way I am going to tack $3500 onto the tag "just cause' I gotta have it!" Especially with that money going to the welfare in my state. NO. *frustration* Looks like it's up to a local dealer. :ugh2: |

It will happen...
*patience* *watching paint dry agonizing* How the hell can obtaining a relatively cheap car made by a regular high-volume car company like this be such a beast!? *frustration* |

Either way, I'm sorry that it's causing you this much grief. I wish you luck. Hope you find exactly what you want and soon. |

If I trade it in LA, the state gives me tax credit and I do not have to pay TT&L on the car I trade for if it is of lesser value, just paperwork to the dealership to file for my tags. If I trade my car OUT of state, I will have to pay TT&L IN-STATE for the car I bring back. That adds about $3500 to the 370Z. Unacceptable considering that money doesn't have to be spent, and won't go toward principal. I was confused, too, until I spoke with the bank. |

yeah, Alabama has similar laws. Have you looked into a dealer swap? Shouldn't be too tough to negotiate. |

Yes, LA is one of...those...states. Weird laws. |
You can just transfer one to a local dealer, I'm in the SW and I looked into a transfer from the NE and it was 1500. Ended up finding one local but I'm just saying 1500 < 3500 if you're in a rush.

Is this a LA thing? I traded my 350Z in for my Corvette in MA, I was able to get the tax credit even though I was out of state.

Honestly import, all this time I told you that it will be best to order. I went through a very similar storry as you and if I had to do it all over again I would have just ordered my car. I didn't go through it once, I went through it twice... and I was way more flexible than you. The only thing I was sure of was auto sport. I had 3 different colors. Base or touring was up in the air pending on how a dealer deals. I personally feel navs have no place in sports cars so I didn't want one...
You would think my flexibility would have gotten me a Z fairly quick. Its an agonizing experience. And from experience I'm telling you... living in this deep south 5 state hellhole of car purchasing... ORDER! You will be so much happier. |
