I changed oil, and now i got Engine check up warning.

I've changed my crap QS engine oil to Pennzoil Platinum at the local autoshop near my house, and i got unreasonable engine check up warning.
I bought 5 Liters of Pennzoil platinum SAE 5W-30 full synthetic engine oil and new oil filter. i don't understand why my car's computer is saying that the car needs to get the engine service soon.
The only one thing i feel suspicious about is drain process... I was standing aside of machanic who was working on my car, and he didn't drained old oil completely, and he said it's tachically okay. Last oil was Qacker State horsepower SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil, which was exactly same thickness and same kind. The level of oil was perfectly fine too, i've double checked dipstick at home and there wasn't any lack or overdose of oil for sure. Also, i couldn't find any sludge like before. Can anybody tell me what's wrong with my engine? plz?

For more info about "Service Engine soon" message, this thing is only come up when the car is on "on" status(There are OFF,ACC,ON as you know lol). The message is disappear when i start up the engine.

That light always comes 'on' when the car is powered but without the engine running. There are a number of other warning lights you'll notice that also go off once the engine is started.

Oh, really? i couldn't notice it before, eventhough i've driven my car for almost 2000 miles so far... Why "engine service soon" message always comes on when the car is powered? According to your comment, Engine service soon message is not an abnormal status? Why did Nissan made car in this way? Are they trying to trick their customers for any purpose?:shakes head:

Actually all the cars I've owned in the past did the same thing.

rench 05-28-2009 07:08 AM

^^ this... Most cars Ive ever seen (unless gutted with minimal guages or old) will light up all warning lights when turned to on but not started. A cpl of em might go off but some stay on till car is started. Its easy to overlook having the pushbutton start as I basically never put it to on position.

zZSportZz 05-28-2009 07:13 AM

Pretty sure this is normal behavior :)

wstar 05-28-2009 07:47 AM

Yes, it's normal for all the warning lights to come on initially, they should go away shortly after you start up. The purpose of this is to verify that all the bulbs and circuits are functioning.

Otherwise your check engine bulb might go out and you wouldn't even know it when something when wrong with the engine thousands of miles later and the light failed to light up. You're supposed to glance at all the lit up blubs when you first start the car and verify that none of the usual ones are missing.

Just to reassure you, I'll vote that it's normal also. Just looked at mine.

I just noticed tonight that my "Check Engine Soon" warning light stayed on
the whole time while driving about 10 miles. I'm pretty sure it always went off while driving before tonight. I checked the manual once I got home and it said to check the fuel filler cap is tight. So I loosened it and retightened.
the manual said "the light should turn off after a few driving trips"
hope they're right. I'll do more driving tomorrow to check.

Yes, CEL clears after a few successful starts with no warning.
