Do People Judge You By Your Car's Appearance?

At the chevron last night some kid that worked there goes around and cleans windows and checks for cracks... so I pull up and he says "sir, do you need your window cleaned?" I was like "no, and don't touch the car"...then he starts asking about it...and then mutters something about being a "drug dealer". I replied "oh really what brings you to that conclusion?"

He goes all nice cars like that are drug dealers cars....I'm like wtf?

I'm by no means a dealer, I'm a full time student everyone is going to judge what they can't have...

I get this all the time. Even worse are the people who ask if I paid cash for it. I always say if I could have paid cash I'd be in a GT-R. It's a stupid mindset to think you can't work hard and or save for something. The only thing I'm slangin is this d1ck.

Last night leaving Safeway, a well-dressed (suit/tie) 70+ man walked in front of me as I was backing up, staring at the front end the whole time and then gave me a fairly enthusiastic thumbs up.

I wonder if it reminded him of a car he once loved.

There are a LOT of high end cars where I live, more Porsches and Aston Martins than you'd imagine. I've only seen a small handful of 370Zs rolling around. Literally, Ferraris are more popular. I think because the income level is so high, if they're in the market for a 2-seater, they're going all or nothing. *sigh* some day... or not.

Yes people judge you by what you drive. Everyone thought I was such a big shot when I drove my BMW M3. I hated it. Now I drive a 370Z around, I feel like the looks are more saying cool car and not rich stuck-up bast@rd. I'm just a retired Marine with VA benefits. Far from a rich anything.

i get "judged" by the cops all the time. i get pulled over for "random" searches quite frequently, but the cop comes to the window, they are typically confused by the 5'7'' white male sitting in the drivers seat.

btw the pic is old and i have since blacked out the windows

Black SUV tinted windows, yeah they proabably assume something sketchy is going down.

Yes they do. I was pulled over by some cops a while back in my G20. When I got out in my scrubs they immediately changed their stance and attitude and seemed almost apologetic. I still got a ticket for window-tint, but they didn't ask for insurance, or anything else. Just my DL, and they looked pretty bummed. I think they were hoping for more than a tint ticket when they saw my blacked out 10 year old economy car.

I keep it blacked out because crime is so bad here, it's worth a tint ticket every year or so to keep the trash from seeing what's in my car very easily.

My Z06 gets nearly 0 attention from either LE or others. I have gotten a total of 3 comments in the past year. One was a head-nod from a guy in a truck, one was a guy at my apartment complex gushing over "WOW! HOLY CRAP!" and one was a pretty hot early 40's something who "raced" me in traffic in her Honda Accord while grinning devilishly at me. I was sad that she exited onto another highway shortly thereafter.

There are much nicer cars in my area then 370Z, but not as many of them. Almost an exotic car in this area... I've received nothing but compliments, and occasional punk kid (like in the mazda 6 yesterday) trying to race me... People do judge you, and I think it's flattering LOL.
