ITT: Convince me to join the dark side.

In just a few months my 5th year anniversary with my 2005 z33 will take place.

In a nutshell It's been an amazing car from the beginning; a modest, comfy sports car that didn't put an enormous dent in your wallet whether it would be for mods, repairs or even fuel.

Well just like all all love stories, it seems mine is just about to hit the fork in the road.. Just recently at my local Nissan, I ran into a 2010 370, black with the sweet potato colored seats (persimmon I believe?) It's black with all the bells and whistles, navi, camera, power seats, sports pack, trollface, etc.

Only problem I have with the car is the looks, I haven't really gotten a good look at these cars until the day I went to go look at dealer. While parked next to my 350 the design just didn't make any sense to me. Some angles look great, others make me think of boomerangs.(no offense) Regardless, the interior is pretty top notch. My only gripe being the strange info pod next to the tach and how one of my center pods is a..clock.

Performance wise, It really doesn't matter to me. I've been meaning to take the 350 to the track for 5 years and it hasn't even happened once. I drive like a grandma on the road and I putt around in the 350, most likely whats going to happen too if i land myself in a 370.

The 350 has been an amazing car throughout the years and never has it given me any headaches or any problems even till today, I would love to keep it but I don't have the means to keep both cars, so only one can stay. Plus the 350 almost has 120k miles on it and the interior smells like hotdog water after it rains.

So z34 elites, convince me to join the dark side.

Not a fan of the orange interior, but if you Do decide to get the 370, sell me your enkei's! :yum:

that's a beautiful looking 350z :( hope you wont miss her

Coming from a 350z roadster with 4 years of ownership, I picked up the 370z roadster about 4 months ago.

I like the 350z, it is fast, sporty, fun and reliable.

I like the 370z, even more. It's faster, handling is better thus more fun, it's a much better package overall.

Especially on high speed such as around 90mph to 110mph, the 370 will just keep pushing you, you can be confident to go faster, I didn't have that with the 350, in fact, the vibration and noise(yes noise, not engine note) from the VQ35 was so bad that I have to back off above 5k rpm.

370z is much stable on high speed and cornering is more fun too.

Not to mention the extra 30 horses on the 370, LOL, why won't you like it, right??

Except you found the clock is weird (I am actually found it is quite useful), you can 'feel' the interior of the 370 is better quality and style than the plastic-cheapy 350z's, when I first test drove the 350z, I looked at the interior, I was like 'mmm.... Japanese plastic...'

I feel the 370z interior is like 'mmm.... getting there.....'

Have you test drove the 370 yet? Give it a shot, I bet you'll like it for sure!!

:happydance:

Having ridden in a 350, and driven a few 370's, I think the 370Z is a structurally more sound car (less flex by far), and the interior was much nicer. It was also a lot quicker.

If money is no object, trade 'er in!

Everything you like about the 350 has been improved. I can't think of any reason you wouldn't be happy making the jump. The 370 is an awesome car. The value just cannot be beat. Beautiful 350 btw.

Mmm hotdog water...

edub370 02-03-2012 08:10 AM

only, and i mean THE ONLY, downside to the 70, is you wont have as sweet of an exhaust note as the 350. other than that, every other thing that can be imporved, has been improved

The interior of the 370 is sooo much nicer than the crappy 350. It sounds like the only thing you don't like are the lights. It's all subjective, I guess. I never looked twice at a 350Z the whole time it was being sold.

Then the 370Z came out and I was like :eek2: WANT!

I agree with you. While I don't want to knock the 350 at all, it never really wow'ed me until the NISMO edition came out. As soon as the 370 debued, I was like :yum:. I had to have one. It took me 3 years, but i'm here now. :hello:

The 370Z is a nice upgrade all around from the 350Z. Since you've got about 120k on yours now I would think it's a good time to move on.

Though you must find a way to transfer the hot dog water smell to your new car. :yum:

You're comparing a stock vehicle vs a nicely modded 350. Apples to oranges. Put a few aftermarket goodies into the 370Z and you'll enjoy it more. The 370Z looks so much better than the 350Z stock vs stock.

:iagree:

Throw some swifts on the Z, some sway bars, and a CBE. You'll enjoy the car a LOT more then.

bigsix 02-03-2012 10:01 AM

YOUR 350 looks really good...maybe it's the wheels.

If you just 'put around', it might not be worth it getting the 370z. The new z34 seems to have higher limits, more power, tighter body control, etc. It's good to push it.

Also, the looks of the car seal the deal for me. You're not crazy about the styling .?.

Work wheels ;) I don't think they will clear the sport brakes though, I test fitted them on a 370 one time. A spacer might be needed, I'm not really one to advocate the use of spacers though they might not be going switching over (assuming i do the switch.)

Do you really? I think its fantastic! Not as dull as the 350 yet not as playstation 7 as the Gt-R.

I drove the one I posted above, it was the third 370 I've ever driven. First being a yellow sport 7at and then my friend's base model 6spd.

True words, the 350 rattles like a 240 on the highway. It doesn't bother me at all but I wouldn't many any more refinement. :icon17:

Yeah I noticed that it wasn't as marbly as the 350, but all in all it doesnt matter. I have a motordyne tdx v2 that I could sell, then I could just buy a new system from them again in time.

Well actually, its not that I don't like them..I just find the boomerang approach Nissan did to some of its cars rather interesting. The one thing I somewhat dislike though are the optional daytime LED's. I never knew you could even get that installed until I did a build a 370z scheme on Nissan's site. Not surprising I haven't seen one person with it yet.

Even for the changes I have done to the 350, I probably still would get absolutely toasted by any 370. :happydance:

Thanks for the help everyone. I do appreciate it! :tiphat:
