You say the R32 looks like a girls car and I say the z's look like a nerdy asian kids car.

You obviously have raced a person with Z who can't drive. If you go race against me or any of the people on this board, we would walk on you easily after 15mph, actually even less than that. Like I have said, one of my good friend has R32 and its no contest againt my Z. I will bet my money that hes better driver than you too.

Also, my willingness to buy Hyundai over VW shows my awareness that they have improved so much on dependability, quality and reliableness that they are BETTER than VW. It also shows that I am not ignorant like you who only cares about the car brand, instead i care about what the car actually gives me for my money. Thats why for $32,000 I have bought 370z instead of girly looking R32. (lol I believe that R32's nickname is rabbit? LOL)...Rabbit or hare...

Why don't you compare the survey by J.D. Power, click below.

For quality:

Ratings | J.D. Power

For dependability:

Ratings | J.D. Power

VW R32 price is 32,000.

Horsepower 250
Torque (lb-ft) 236
Curb weight 3547

0-60: 5.8 sec

2008 Volkswagen R32 - First Drive - Motor Trend

Hyundai Genesis Coupe is 27,000

Horsepower 306
Torque (lb-ft) 266
Curb weight 3294
0-60: 5.7 sec

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 V6 - Road Test/Performance Files: Tested by C/D/High Performance/Hot Lists/Reviews/Car and Driver - Car And Driver

Yes, Hyundai GenCoupe is faster, better quality, and looks better doing it than R32.

And seriously, please dont buy 370z, just buy R32 and get walked on by Hyundai Genesis Coupe..LOL

Well to answer the original question: No, the 370z has no balls down low. The VR6 has superior low end torque, as does almost every VW in it's respective class. My suggestion would be to buy MK4 generation R32 - considering you like the platform AND the insane power gains people with freshly paid off MK4 R32s that are just beginning to make.

greasyginzo 05-28-2009 12:46 PM

If you like the Hyundai so much why didn't you buy one? For real how old are you? I think I may cry if you call my Rabbit a girls car again. I bet your friend is a real Mario Andretti behind the wheel if your 2wd car that weights the same with only slightly more torque is able to pass his awd at less than 15 mph. Or should I have used Danica Patrick since he drives "girly car"

HP to weight ratio is what wins the day. Low end torque feels nice but it isn't going to win a drag race.

AARC51 05-28-2009 01:57 PM

Can't we all just get along?

I'm wondering what the G37 guys had to say about the lack of low end punch, and I wonder by now if anyone has improved it.

My exhaust is arriving in a few weeks, and it'll be installed along with the HFCs. Hopefully that'll help a bit on the low end.

Overall, I think throttle response is quite conservative under 3k. I wonder if it has to do with fuel economy since this is the typical driving range?

Yes, I doubt I would be the first to suspect that the ECU's control of VVEL is helping with emissions and fuel economy in the low RPMs instead of delivering the maximum torque it's capable of. There's nothing wrong with this. If you're driving at ~3Krpm and under, all that torque would be doing for you is making you feel good, you're just daily driving. Real driving in the 370Z starts a hair over 4K RPM, where the engine really starts to stretch its legs for the first time.

The only real exception to all of the above is launching the car from a stop drag-race style. Doing that on a regular basis on the street is just abusive and pointless imho, and the car was never designed to be a drag-strip queen anyways. I'm still going to hit the local strip 1-2 more times just to see what kind of numbers I can get down to, but I don't plan on making it a habit.

The new VQ is a beast above 4K rpm but below it, it doesn't have the low end power like 03 Z (just my opinion :twocents:)

I couldn't figure out why my 350z felt faster down low compared to my 370z test drive. It's because I was only able to go past 4K on the freeway a few times cuz of traffic.

The new Z may not be the fastest car pre 4000 RPM but above 4K, it's a beast! The acceleration is just amazing and nothing like VQ35DE. I thank the guy who decided to put acceleration lanes before highway - EVERYDAY! :icon17: :driving: oh the sound it makes after 4K =
