The income issue, like has been mentioned a few times here is very subjective. It doesn't have as much relevance as one might think. Some people save and others spend. Lifestyle preferences are all different as well as the cost of living for the area people live in. Someone in rural Arkansas may have an income the same as someone living in SoCal, yet have much more disposable income. As for an anonymous way of getting this worthless question asked and answered, may have been with a $50k increment poll.

Where you live is also your choice. No need to cry about standard of living.

Then again, I live in NJ. This state is full of haters. It might be different elsewhere.

True dat! My neighbors broke into my car a while back and stole all my stuff, we know they did it, because there was an investigation and they were eventually given the boot. I chalked it up to jealousy because they see that we always have nice things and wonder how we do it. My wife and I combined only make a little over 90K a year. My wife manages million dollar budgets everyday so ours is a piece of cake. The only debts we have are the Z and the new FX we just bought, and we have no kids.

I'll discuss salaries with really close friends but even rarely then. Never discuss salary with coworkers though there is nothing good that can come from those kinds of conversations only points of contention. The general rule of thumb is, if you're finding yourself questioning what someone makes, you're probably not going to like the answer and you're better off not knowing.
