Everyone will have paid for this fix out of pocket by the time Nissan clues into this fiasco. :shakes head:

Not tryin to thread jack but does anyone else notice the two different rims on the track z or is it fine because it can probably catch a Gtr lol

BlackZeda 01-21-2012 11:53 PM

Well at least it happened to you just once...The first time my Z died they had to use a wrecker since I was inside a parking garage. It left a nice indent in each of my front rims.

I agree, it does look sweet being winched up:

Sorry to see. That's rough. Hopefully Nissan addressed this issue soon.

When this happened to mine (like 2-3 weeks ago) the lady at the dealership told me she had 3 cars already there with the same issue (various models) and that it was only recently that she'd even heard of this problem....she sucked at her job FYI

Everyone with a 2009, anyway.

If I had a 2009 and didn't want to trade it, I'd replace the lock module preemptively.

Or an early production 2010.

Sorry to hear about another one. Time for a recall by Nissan for these locks on the Z.

Is the culprit: mileage, time, low battery power, or fill in blank?

I will state that this Z is most* aggressive looking 370 to date.

* to avoid fighting; top few at least.

The GTR recall for the same part blames it on "excessive oil within the ESCL" and the failure symptom is electo-mechanical in nature. The cause of failure is likely to be a combination of factors, one of which may be the cold weather and I suspect tension on the lock to be another. My 09 is up to 34,000 miles with a revision B and I have not yet encountered it.

That is the AM-Performance race car at Barber! It looks even better in person.
