diddy check which revision is on your car. if it's still RevA or RevB the car temporary fixed itself and will go out again.

if they gave you RevD, then

How can I tell what they did? Dealer said they gave it a new part so I'd assume it's the D?

If you look at the unit you can see what Rev it is.

ck out my DIY in the DIY section. :)

I found the part number on my receipt:

48700-JF00D

Does the D at the end indicate its a Rev D?

Yes, you have the proper (newest) version of the lock mechanism.

2009 and some early 2010 models. Never heard of it happening on an 11 or 12.

It is not an issue on the 2012's because Nissan eliminated steering column locks on the Z's (and maybe other models) beginning with 2012.

kenchan 02-25-2012 05:35 PM

2012's will have their list of problems. :icon17: ;)

It is a Z for crying out loud. Geesh. You have to roll with it. People who moan about the Z should daily drive '72 and '71 240z's like I have for many years and then complain about Z issues. The stuff associated with the 370 is child's play.

kenchan 02-25-2012 05:46 PM

getting stranded is not child's play but you're the pro with Z's so

True, stranded is no good. A few of my 240's used to love simply quitting, at speed, due to difficult-to-track-down electrical gremlins. The last time was a few years ago on 405 south near the 101 merge. In the car-pool lane around noon, I watched the tach drop to zero. It is large giggles coasting across 4 lanes of LA traffic to the shoulder at around 65 mph. BTW -- I will never ever purchase anything again from Mallory.
