370z in Germany

Hi everyone,

I am new to the entire Z-scene, however, decided to purchase a 370Z as soon as it's out next week here in Frankfurt, Germany. Since I always wanted to mod my car, I figured I would ask around here for advice/help. All my cars are stock so bear with me :)

Since I don't know of any engine mods for the 370z out in Germany, I would want to start with exhaust. What do you suggest? I'm a big fan of the throaty V8 sound. What do I need?

Thanks in advance

Welcome aboard!

You can start searching for which exhaust you want here: 370Z Exhaust Sound Clip data base

nogoodname 05-23-2009 07:29 PM

or just look around the exhaust/Intakes section....it's a good start..
and welcome to the forums.

nishi 05-23-2009 07:47 PM

thanks guys... ill post more as soon as I buy that car :) gas prices in germany are around $6 per gallon, so driving AMGs aint the smartest decision :P

blue660r01 05-23-2009 08:30 PM

I have family out there. Bergen- Enkheim

nishi 05-23-2009 08:49 PM

Bergen-Enkheim is close to Frankfurt, 5 min from the city center... yeah i studied in boston but grew up in germany. so after that was done, i moved back :)

blue660r01 05-23-2009 08:59 PM

I thought its considered to be part of the city

nishi 05-24-2009 12:54 AM

it's part of the Frankfurt-area, but I only mean the city center when I say Frankfurt aka Bankfurt

CrownR426 05-24-2009 01:27 AM

Welcome to the board and I am sure you'll find everything you need about the Z here!
Very nice car collection you have I wana see that 911! Pleaseee.
Have you decided on which trim you want and color?

semtex 05-24-2009 08:39 AM

I think it'll be hard for you to get a throaty sound unless you also replace the stock cats with HFCs in addition to installing a CBE. But my understanding is that German laws are very restrictive when it comes to aftermarket parts, so I'm not sure HFCs are even feasible for you. In any case, I currently have a Stillen CBE combined with Berk HFCs, and it sounds pretty throaty. You can check out this thread for more details, including video clips with sound: http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...berk-hfcs.html

Nishi, will your German friend look down on you when you drive a Japanese sports car.?German has the best cars on earth....Why buy Japanese.?

nogoodname 05-24-2009 08:46 AM

^^ burns too much gas for a cool car i guess...or maybe wants something different.

Mercs, Porsches are domestic there...lol......needs to stand out

Asheth 05-24-2009 10:54 AM

Hey welcome to the boards. Im stationed in Mannheim but deployed till July. I ordered a Z (us spec) will be there in august hope to see you around.

nishi 05-24-2009 11:46 AM

the thing is that germany aint the warmest place, so white wouldnt be a good choice...especially when i think about selling it at some point... hopefully black with red leather. what do u think?

semtex 05-24-2009 12:01 PM

So, you went from asking about exhaust mods to discussing how color combinations might affect resale value? Hmm . . . interesting train of thought.

nishi 05-24-2009 02:56 PM

well germans are super super stingy when it comes to 2nd hand car sales... the only two colors that are driven in germany are silver and black... not even kidding.

I work in Mannheim, so I'll probably run into you if you speed around the city with ur 370z :) But i gotta say, mannheim is boring. the only thing keepin me entertained is the no-speed limit on the way from frankfurt to mannheim. A5 and A67 ;)

The reason why i want a Japanese car is because i want something new! i've been driving mercs and porsches for as long as i've had my license... sure i wouldn't mind a M5 or CLS63... but the gas consumption on those cars is ridiculous. For example: i drive 178 KM (120 miles) per day if I work in Mannheim.... in my SLK55, thats half a tank per day! considering the gas prices (80 EUR full gas tank) thats 40 EUR a day, or in other terms 180 EUR per week... who the hell wants to pay close to $ 400 a week on gas! :D ridic!!!

but... thats germany... back in Boston i paid max $40 for a full tank of gas!

that's very true... cops will pull you over if they think you've modded the living crap outta your car... thats why you can't really mod the exterior... and... i think there are some tuners out there that offer a open/closed valve mechanism in case a cop car is near u :) anyone know more about that? i've been seeing those videos on youtube alot...

Slidefox 05-24-2009 03:00 PM

Move back to Boston?

i kid i kid

lol, nah don't think so. My other two options for a new car were the new Audi TT RS and a BMW M3. it always amazed me how much power you can get out of japanese engines :)

Yea he isnt lying about that black and silver are the only colors lol. White is rare, Red is really red(ferrari or lambo mostly) yellow=where?

I love A6/A67 long straight and no speedlimit except the camera's as you get close to Darmstadt but rest is wide open!! 1hr un-molested driving! And I plan to def going to ride around Mannheim!!

I plan to get G3 intakes probably Berks Exhaust and HFC's. Inspection can be a problem but if the parts look OEM then I won't have a problem with that. Especially with a new car like the Z. Germans love japanese cars and American muscle like Mustangs especially if they aren't made in Germany. In 6 years living in mannheim I've only seen 5 350z's. I don't know how inspections are on the german side though.?

nishi 05-24-2009 03:48 PM

very very strict! unless you know people ;) I'll try to get a hold of my buddy who can get it all done. i dont know how, but he managed to get his CLS55 Carlsson with 614 HP through inspection.

those 3 cameras under the bridge are a bitch... cuz they dont flash during the day, only at night. don't forget the weird tower-shaped camera at the entrance of mannheim. its new.... its the first generation 360 degree camera in germany that can also catch you from behind :/

350z are very rare in germany. most people drive VW, Audi or Merc. In Frankfurt you see all kinds of cars, from astons to lambs to carrera GTs! but yeah, germans love muscle cars and japanese cars. problem is inspection! :)

Hmm when did they install that? I heard about that camera I don't go that way to often unless I am coming from Heidelberg. Or going to SpeedFire. Speaking of which have you ever been there? They do good interior work and other custom work. I forgot the guy's name that works there but both of them are cool. They hooked up my friends 300C with vertical doors, custom grille, put 24's on it and TVs in head rest and a fold down TV from the roof.

semtex 05-24-2009 04:25 PM

Is it feasible to throw the stock parts back on for inspection, then swap them out afterwards? It's a bit of a pain, sure, but it's not like it takes 12 hours to swap out an exhaust (cats and CBE).

nishi 05-24-2009 04:46 PM

yeah you could do that... but i'll see what i can do once i get a hold of that guy.

havent heard of speedfire, no.... sounds good tho. i havent had a lot of contact with shops because i never had my cars modded :D

Easy to find! Once you go under the welcome to mannheim sign make the first left. Come to the 4 way intersection and make another left you should see a few dealerships there I believe a smartcar dealer is one. Follow that road around and you should see a big red sign that say speedfire on top of the building. They do everything from work on porsches, bmw, mercedes.

nishi 05-25-2009 12:27 AM

im not gonna be working in Mannheim till August, so I'll have to see then :) I have a test drive with the 370z this week so I hope it's as good as you guys say it is ;) Productive week to you all

License Plate Bracket

Nishi,

I've been in Germany for about 2 weeks...stationed down at Spangdahlem AB. My Monterrey Blue 370Z is on a boat somewhere...should be here within 2 weeks. When you test drive next week, can you take a picture or at least look closely at the front license plate bracket and how its installed? I need to get one and I think the best way is probably get one through the Nissan dealership in Frankfurt. Thanks!

PS Gonna stick out like a sore thumb with a bright blue 370Z!

nishi 05-26-2009 01:05 PM

Hey Hey,

so i got off the phone with the Nissan Dealer here in Frankfurt... and the 370z doesnt come out till mid june! But as soon as it does, I'll post a pic of the front license plate bracket. I don't think there'll be a problem. For my SLK55, which I bought in the US, i got special license plates in Germany for 10 EUR.... so I wouldnt worry too much.

Yeah bright blue is sick... i wouldnt mind yellow for some reason... hmmm :D

shabarivas 05-26-2009 01:45 PM

Take that Z to the ring and lets see what she can do!!

Oh nice welcome that will make 2 US Spec 370z in germany  Spang is a little hike out there though I've gone there for missions alot of times to deliver cargo. I need to find out about the bracket too. From the way it looks I think the long Euro plate looks better than the US plate cause it doesnt cover up so much of the mouth.

Mid-July is the Release for the Z now? I wonder how many dealers will be stocked since US dealers didnt get much stock to begin with.

nishi 05-26-2009 05:17 PM

Mid june my man, not july!
