Thanks. I got that the other way around.

As my rebuttal goes... Why pay another $2400 (or $1700 should the OP takes it) on top of the agreed price? I say no deal here. The OP did his part and was willing to close the deal.

The OP was excited because its his dream car and his negotiation skill to get a killer price. If it's off by couple hundred, I would see how "that's still a good deal" apply. But we're talking about couple thousand here. How would you feel if someone stick you like that if you buying......say a house. That would be like 25k (proportion comparison) that you have to fork over on the closing date.

My question to the OP is this......Did you get your deposit back?

Thanks to all of you and the replies since they have their value. And YES, I was storming mad at the dealership and talked to the general sales manager to no avail. I even went home and shredded my Penfed loan check since I had put their name on it at the dealership.
Maybe you all are right, I should just hang on to the parts and hope that I still can get my Z some day soon.

No, I did not get my $2k back yet as they said their main dealership in Barberton has to issue the check...maybe next Tuesday.

thanks to all

I surely hope that they get you your deposit back at a timely manner. There are plenty of deals to be had, just look around more.

Wishing you the best and better outcome!

See if you can get a hold of the GM at the Main dealership and explain your situation. Tell him you are walking away because of the way you were treated, and are going to buy somewhere else. More than likely he will not be happy with the sub-dealerships treatment of a customer, and will be able to work with you a little more than they could. Tell him you will pay $500 more than original, if they include a couple dealer-installed options (IE tint/clear bra/mats/trunk organizer..etc). That gives them a little more cash on the deal, and you get a little something for your extra $$

like others have said, your deal was WAY under invoice, so if you truly want the Z, something like the above is a good compromise when you compare it to taking your 2k back and going to another dealership to pay more.

Gave In!

OK, so I went to another dealership in Tallmadge that had the same model but in Yellow and without the Z illuminated kick plates. They ran the vpp price for me at $33099.22. So I went back to the original dealership that offered to take their profit of $783 off the $2400 difference which produced a price of $32057.05. So i figured for a $1100 less I could get the car I really wanted (blue) along with the kick plates. I figured it just wasn't going to get any better than this, so I swallowed my pride and bought it. Now I just need to get another Penfed check.

Thanks to all who urged me to continue on or keep my parts for the future.

WShade 05-22-2009 06:22 PM

Good for you. I would have done the same thing. Now close the other thread.

Dude - you still got a killer deal and the car you wanted. Maybe not as good as you were hoping, but at least you know the dealership made the absolute minimum they could.

Congrats on the purchase

Pushing_Tin 05-22-2009 07:25 PM

Congrats! Let's see some pics of your new baby.

From The Dealer

Here are some early pictures of my new baby. Won't get my PenFed loan check until next Wednesday, so it's going to be a long long weekend.

Getting excited again now that the disappointment is sorta gone.

Why would you want to commit yourself to a part when you don't even have the car. There might be something better and cheaper out by the time that you actually get the car. Then you'll be kicking yourself for jumping the gun.

 amazing Z! I see this EXACT car in my garage EVERY DAY but never gets old. Absolutely love the color (I may be a little biased on the color ;))
Glad you've chosen to get it.

Congrats and drive safe! :driving:

Nissan raised their prices on the 370's?

Nope, still 29,930 base msrp. The only price increased by Nissan was destination fee (from $690 to $720 = $30) fee which is no biggie.

Ditto! Funny, as I was looking at the pics I actually thought to myself, 'This never gets old', then I scroll down and there are the words right out of my mouth! I could use more power though.

Sleep on it man, tomorrow is a new day and a new chance to get your Z.

+1 on this.

I'd do the same thing.. out of anger because having them change the deal is always a horrible experience.

It makes you think "Wow, did they think i'd be okay with paying $2400 more because the car is staring me in the face?".. And believe it or not, I bet many people cave in and pay the extra cash because they want the car that bad. They probably were chancing it with you seeing if they can get you trapped. I hate the tactics they use.

I just walk in and start firing shots off these days, gets them down to the bottom line right away.. Just walk in there say "Look, we're gonna make a deal or I'm walking really soon here." That's how I did mine, I failed to look into the VPP program though and thus I'm sour about my deal.

I'm glad you decided to go with the car. You still got a great deal. The initial deal they offered was too good to be true and it is obvious they screwed the pooch on that one. If it were an Altima or Sentra the dealer would probably take the loss and honor their mistake, but they know they can sell that Z for a profit, so it would have been an even bigger hit for them to honor it.

RCZ 05-23-2009 01:57 PM

NEvermind!

Congrats!!!

Dude. I love my MB and I'm in So Cal. So sooner or later. I think it looks AMAZING in person. Wife was totally against that, but I won that battle. :driving:

ocfoilist 05-23-2009 09:40 PM

Hey tru_Asiatik, you've definitely got another MB in soCal. So when's the next meet...?

MutantChicken 05-25-2009 12:44 AM

You should hear the horror stories going around about the new Camaro's right now...

Stealerships that make deals to sell at msrp and now that he cars are just now starting to come in ( a lot of people have had their cars on order since Oct. ) these stealerships are now trying to charge an additional 5-15k more because they think they can get away with it, they figure if the person who ordered the car walks away from it someone else will walk in and pay that much for it right now... it's crazy.

MutantChicken 05-25-2009 12:47 AM

I'm glad you hung in there and got your car !

I hope to get my first Z soon, I've wanted one since I was a kid.

I thought I read that California is considering banning black cars because they make the AC work harder and thus cause the engine to release more of those pesky carbon emmisions. So your car may be very rare.

bluzman 05-25-2009 01:32 PM

^^Sounds like something straight out of the People's Republic of Santa Monica.

MutantChicken 05-26-2009 10:25 AM

And they wonder why the state is going broke ....

They keep chasing the businesses out, and are making it harder by the day for anyone to want to live here .....

nogoodname 05-26-2009 10:37 AM

I'm down to visit Cali anyways.

i agree that it's annoying but, if some fool is willing to pay more to be the first to have a car then the "stealerships" will continue to do it.

MutantChicken 05-28-2009 05:37 PM

Dang.

I went to the dealership that my wife is getting her Camaro from, they also have a Nissan dealership ( they share a lot ) and tried to talk to the sales manager who is helping us, but he was busy , and told him that I would like to like to finally take my test drive in the Z. He knows we are paying cash for both cars, by the way... Since he doesn't have the time to take care of me himself he calls over to the Nissan side to get someone over there to set me up. Long story short, after pacing the showroom for 45 minutes, I finally got pissed and left... I guess the Nissan guy doesn't want the sale ....

On the cool side, they did have a really nice Gt-R in the showroom that I got to drool all over for a while....
