i dont think anyone has bought a supercharger for their attention grabbing 2 door sportscar to "be descrete". i mean it's not like our 370's are "descrete" as it is. |

To each his own....if you like people to notice you for how loud your car is then go for it. by the way, when people are shopping around for a supercharger kit to buy...i doubt that the first question they ask is how loud can this setup be. im almost positive that the first question they ask is how reliable is this kit or how much power can this kit put out. Edub is right in that our car isn't discrete naturally. This doesn't, however, mean all of us want it to scream for even more attention either though by having it extra loud. I personally would prefer to be undercover with SC power. I agree with Nostud, my questions will be how much power and how reliable. If I was going to drop for a SC, I would get the GTM over the Stillen because it is quieter actually. Everyone wants different things so it's hardly right saying we all want to be super loud attention grabbers, especially since we'll probably get more attention form cops than anyone else...

Some people want to be loud and that's cool too as long as you also get power gains. I'm just not one of them. And though I believe your car better be fast and capable if it is loud (slow cars with fart cans that are loud just to be loud annoy me), it doesn't mean you should drive like a douche in normal city driving either. Be safe and respectful and fire it up on the track. Don't make people hate Z drivers.

a)just because the sound of a good supercharger whine doesnt mean i drive around like an a-hole everywhere. b) i never said that was the deciding factor... HOWEVER some people do enjoy the sound. hell look at youtube, its full of video's just dedicated to supercharger wine. the people that enjoy it arent any more obnoxious than the people that dont. its strictly taste. i am just saying that right now our options are quiet and quieter. i want something that gives more of an audible distinction over NA motors. having an SC'd car is something that i would be proud to show off/listen to for instance: could u imagine if Whipples next advertisement went something like this: "HEY Mustang owners, are you tired of all the sound your supercharger makes. We know you love your sc'd cobras and gt500's. but why deal with all that ridiculous racket! well worry no more... Whipple now introduces it's Whisper Series supercharger. Our main objective was to keep this system silent, so we will be replacing all new noisy blowers with the whisper series. Take that cobra from rated R to PG. It's family fun for everyone!" ..i can imagine their sales numbers if they only started offering quiet sc's... point being, that some people absolutley love that sound |

The whine is more of a roots blower sound.

There's several different designs of superchargers; Some are louder than others. The Roots type blowers are the loudest. The Roots 871 is the loudest according to our local supercharger expert Scott.

Is this about whine or power?
Reminds me of my Evo days when Evo's and STI's used to practically compare how loud their blow off valves were. Pretty ricey IMO. Edit: better yet, forget FI altogether and start with suspension/brakes. |
