The bottom line is it does it even matter what they think? Are we all so insecure about the image of our cars that we have to defend their "manliness" against differing opinion? God I hope not.

well, this thread is already 8 pages and counting...

Do we need to add a validation support group in addition to Automobiles Anonymous?

Skeeterbop 12-06-2011 10:07 PM

I think that should be included as part of AA m4a1mustang

The first step is admitting you are powerless over cars and your life has become unmanageable.

/\ I believe it might be called for, what say you m4a1?

The Z made that dude feel his supressed homosexual feelings start to come out and he freaked! The gentle curves mixed with the masculine haunches were just too much for him.

The shallowness of those types of comments clearly indicate the shallowness of his knowledge of the car. Most people that know details and history of a car tend to have some level of respect regardless of the type of car and what demographic it is most popular with.

For the cracked out bum I would have put some lead in his kneecaps followed by two broken collarbones. Then I would have taken the $10.

OK, you might have a point on the Mazda3 sedan...but not the hatchback!

I hope I am posting this in the right forum but here goes.

So I am at dinner Saturday night with my wife and two other couples. One of the guys there I consider a great friend but I wanted to share just a little of our conversation over dinner that night.

I won't bore you with all of the conversation but let me start by saying I am a new Z owner for two weeks now. I bought a 2009 and absolutely love it. Let me also say I 38 years old and am 6 foot 1 and about 240lbs. My purchase of the Z came up in the conversation at dinner somehow and my "good friend" proceeds to say that the Z is a girls car.I have to tell you this kind of got under my skin immediately and the reason I am posting this is because I have thought about it ever since. I am the type of guy that is happy for you no matter what. I was brought up to not say anything if you have nothing nice to say. Your purchase could be the most hideous thing ever but I will congratulate you on it if it makes you happy. He also went on to say that the Bose surround sound I bought is over priced and not worth the money but thats for another forum.

When he commented on the Z being a girls car I let it go as to not make a scene at dinner but again I am posting because I am really bothered by the whole thing. Sorry for venting on here guys but I have to ask two questions.

Does a real friend really say these things?

What would your response to this be?

Thanks in advance everyone for letting me vent!!

Are you questioning your manhood or do you just like to randomly throw out your age, height, and weight? Why the insecurity?

Laugh and ask your friend if he thinks you look pretty in your car and if he wants to pay for your meal if you go home with him tonight, crack the whole table up, come off as quick-thinking and make HIM feel like the one behind the curve. This is much more preferable to acting like some man-child brooding over his supper because someone made a crack about you/your car.

Jesus. I hope owning a Z won't do this to me. I might have to hang onto the 'vette a little longer and just continue on with the gold-chains and mullet. :eekdance:

^Nope, I work more than just my upper body in the gym.

stephsparkles 12-07-2011 04:10 PM

Gotta say, sounds like your *friend* is green with envy so you know what I'd do? I'd make him even greener by saying: "You know, you may be right afterall that its a girls car because Ive never gotten more laid in my life since I bought it!" :P

And by the way, when I was searching for my Nismo the other dealers went up to the salesman who was working with me and said: "Is that woman really buying that Nismo?!" They may as well of said that a woman had no business driving one and shouldn't be buying a car like that....
Did I let that stop me?
Heck nooooo! :)

Enjoy your smokin' car and ignore his silly envious comments.

Ron 12-07-2011 04:34 PM

pfff I've gotten none due to the nismo..

/\ you forgot to mention the copious chest hair which of course helps set off the gold chain perfectly. :)
