If you have haters, then you are doing something right. Let them hate.
To share my experience I already have haters myself since I bought my 09 370Z. Nobody has told me it's a girl's car but I would definitely love to take them on mountain passes.
Anyway, I'm 22 years old, I have owned a 2004 MR2 Spyder, SR20 swapped 1989 240sx, an 86 Nissan pickup POS, then my upgrade went straight to a 370Z.
A girl I was talking to who owned a 350Z stopped talking to me since I bought the 370Z because she thought I was trying to one up her...WTF right?

Oh and no, my mommy and daddy didnt buy my cars. I came from the boondocks of southern Philippines and flew over to the US when I was 8.
My cars and my money are all me.

So I really am proud of how far I've gotten and there are going to be haters everywhere.

Both good answers.

To the OP: Who cares? It's obvious he's a little bit jealous and since he's your friend I think he's got more leeway as far as giving you a little friendly sh*t is concerned. Let it go and enjoy your car. If I actually gave a sh*t about what people think about the Z or even the Mustang I never would have owned both.

Life is too short to get butthurt about someone else's opinion. Especially over something as trivial as a car.

Well said.

Puhahaha at the video.

You have too much pride to be taking words like that seriously. If you like it, what gives if someone else doesn't? You sir are the one losing sleep over it.

krzykanuk 12-06-2011 12:14 AM

Your friend is majorly jealous, so take it as a complement. No one has ever said anything negative to me about my 370Z, even people who don't really like me and complete strangers. Except my father, who was jealous. What's really a girls car is a mustang. 8 out of 10 (approximately) people I see driving a mustang are 40 - 60 year old women.

hdskull 12-06-2011 12:54 AM

He's just jealous that he doesn't get to have fun while driving kids to soccer practice or taking the dogs to the dog park.

SkyZ 12-06-2011 01:42 AM

One of the best cars that a lot of ppl call girly is the Miata. Doors withstanding, its one of the most fun to drive cars out there and those who call it girly are judging it by the looks and never actually driven one before. Thats y i wouldnt take this to heart, some people are just ignorant and if he's ur friend you should know his personality is probably one that like to speak his mind.

TongMan 12-06-2011 02:11 AM

Why let something so minuscule affect you this much? If he is a good friend, then stop being butt hurt over something this insignificant. If he slept with your girlfriend/wife then that would be something to get butt hurt over.

TreeSemdyZee 12-06-2011 06:29 AM

Maybe he meant yours was just a girl's car because he drives a WOMAN's soccer van.

KaienZ34 12-06-2011 06:59 AM

To the OP, most people who say things like that are just jealous plan and simple.

I realize that the Z is an affordable(I say this even though I just spent 800 dollars on tires), exciting, and exhilarating car. My pride was possibly hurt for a second, but on the way home i put the windows down and just enjoyed the exhaust note.

all is forgotten.....

LOL---I love it!!

If you do a quick look at the members' list, or show up to a couple car meets, you'll see this car's buyer population is as "sausage fest" as it gets.

Does that make you feel better or worse about your purchase decision? :ugh2:

Gotta tell you what he said does not make me feel any differently about my purchase. Just kind of caught me off guard when a good friend that drives a base model explorer has the nerve to crack on my purchase of a sports car. Oh I forgot to say in the beginning also he is 6 foot 4 and weighs about 350 so maybe because he can't fit in it maybe he is a little salty!!
I know the next time I ride in his explorer I will ask where all the options are and if he had to pay extra for the turn signals.

He's a friend so I think you need to give him the benefit of the doubt. He was just yanking your chain... pushing your buttons. You should come out to one of our meets in MD or Nova (see the two links in my sig) and see how much sh!t we talk to each other. :bowrofl:

Had a kind of similar situation happen with me. Me and one of my friends were going back and forth about the next car we were going to buy for months. I wanted to buy the Z and he wanted a 335i. He kept talking all this sh1t about how the Z is just a Nissan and the BMW was way better. He got really jealous when I got my Z and he got nothing. His little brother got a 350Z and he starting talking sh1t about how it was so much better and faster than the 370Z. To shut him up, I challenged him to a race at the drag strip. He wasn't even going to drive it himself, he was gonna have his little brother drive it for him. The night before he made up some excuse about his car needing to be repaired and backed out. The next day, I set the 2nd fastest stock 1/4 mile time in the 370Z :bowrofl:

He still likes to talk sh1t about my car, but now it's only as a joke.

Very Nice!!

Your friend is a definition of a hater. That comment was unecessary being you just bought the car and that's not something you say. He probably drives a P.O.S. You shouldn't worry but actually laugh because he actually likes your car and mad he doesnt have one and probably not close to having one. When you get something nice, people start to talk.

I totally agree. Great points everyone!!

I have my Z and an Explorer... was told by 2 salesmen that they have never sold a Z to a woman (one who has been selling Nissans for 10+ years). LOVE my Mo!

yea way more chick's drives 335's than 370z's. I mean even if a lot of chicks drive the car you have, whatever. Theres a difference between a car that a lot of girls drive, than a girl car. A pink beetle is a girls car. RSX is a girls car. Jetta is a girls car. Z's not so much.

Hmmm, let me check the "Chick Car" list to see if the Z is there:
Scion tc
Lexus RX 350
Honda CRV
Mitsubishi Eclipse
Dodge Caravan
Audi TT

Nope, no Z on the list!

This reminds me of a Scion tC commercial I saw yesterday. It showed a white tC driving down a city street and the announcer says, "With 180 horsepower... the Scion tC was born to rule the streets."

I did this:
