thanks guys! feels even better driving, shifting is so much smoother. I love it.

Did you guys put loctite on again? Mine screwed down to the perfect position (with and without the metal washer, didn't seem to make a difference) so I'm kinda hesitant to put loctite on after the hell I went through removing the stock knob this morning but I don't want it coming loose or rattling or anything?

kenchan 12-24-2011 05:35 PM

i wouldn't put loctite on it in that case either.

happytheman 12-24-2011 06:07 PM

KingZee, that looks perfect! Thanks for posting up the product you purchased! :)

TreeSemdyZee 12-24-2011 06:14 PM

Got my replacement yesterday. I used to have a Forged Performance knob that I loved, but I like this one much better. :happydance:
Hope I didn't put on too much Loctite.
I'm dreading next summer when I stick in a subwoofer.

Two days before Christmas. New knob and carbon fiber steering wheel. :excited: :yum:

axio 12-24-2011 06:30 PM

The shift knobs look great!

I was wondering if there's any progress on the brake ducts? Thanks!

NO Loctite here either. Screwed down into the perfect position with shift pattern slightly facing the driver side:tup: Just how I like it.

Merry Xmas everyone!

Merry Xmas everyone!

I used the Loctite because mine was about a quarter turn off. Hated to use it, but didn't want to take the time to try and modify it.

Tward 12-25-2011 12:26 PM

What is the point of these different washers? Does it make the shift knob sit different?

happytheman 12-25-2011 04:01 PM

Ate you speaking of the different colored finisher rings? They are simply to make a nicer visual transition to the shift boot.

Tward 12-25-2011 07:01 PM

No I was talking about the washers that people are going out and buying. Not the one that comes with the shift knob.

sfearl1 12-25-2011 07:31 PM

The washers snug the boot up under the finishing ring on the shift knob.

Unique_Z 12-25-2011 07:53 PM

What about the diffuser? :(

RoshDawg 12-25-2011 09:19 PM

I have had one too many egg nogs. One of presents (to myself) was the knob. I loveee the weight. However there were a few imperfections in the engraving, but nothing I can't live with, and would still repeat the purchase if I could. Looking forward to the diffuser. I hope it's going to be better than evo-R's. (not that that would be hard). Haha.

Here is the original post that Password JDM posted, FYI:

One of our customers came up with a smart idea on how to to keep the shift boot up tight underneath the shift knob.

He used two o-rings and it works perfect. We tried it out and we agree. It's a good solution. If your shift boot is sagging a bit, we would be more than happy to mail you out of few of these o-rings, free of charge =)

Thanks for brining that up for me. I looked through the whole thread and must have just over looked it. Waiting to get the right tools now to take off the oem knob, two pliers isn't quite getting it : /

happytheman 12-26-2011 12:00 AM

Nope, strap wrench and channel locks is what it took for me. Be sure to wrap the shaft with a towel so you don't scratch it. Also, it helps to wrap the knob with painters tape then duct tape for extra grip.

My engraving looks perfecto, sorry to hear yours isn't. The weight is great:tup: Did you install yet??

sfearl1 12-26-2011 12:30 AM

How does the weight compare to stock knob? The stock knob is pretty comfortable IMO, it's just not really pleasing to look at.

I haven't installed it yet as I'm away from my car, but the weight is amazing. A big thing that I like about it is how the center of gravity is VERY high up on the knob, which I am certain adds even more to the great shifting feel found in weighted knobs like these.
the engraving flaws on mine are hardly noticable. I am sure PJDM would replace it if I wanted (with their exceptional customer service) but it's honestly not noticable enough for it to be worth the trouble.
You got a repeated customer PJDM!

Edit: ^ it's twice as heavy as the stock knob

Thanks man. My dad isn't much of a handy person so it looks like I am going to have to make a run to a hardware store and pick up the tools needed. I will give it a shot today and post some pics.

:iagree: This made it really easy to remove.

Got my O-rings in the mail on Saturday and installed the PWJDM Shift Knob today. First impression after a spirited drive...AWESOME! I have a large hand and was a little worried that it wasn't going to be conducive to palm shifting, but I knew right away as I was pulling out of the garage that it was perfect!

Great job PWJDM!!

Tward 12-26-2011 04:47 PM

I am trying to get it off right now but the Oem shift knob just seems to be spinning in place and not loosening up. Any suggestions?

happytheman 12-26-2011 05:06 PM

???Never heard of that. Keep twisting, it may likely come off. I know that it's a pretty long thread. :(

Yep -- it is at least 30 turns.

Tward 12-26-2011 10:14 PM

I got it finally. It just felt like it wasn't getting anywhere but it finally made its way off. Thanks for the help guys.

haitech 12-26-2011 10:25 PM

Vice grips are the way to go

PWJDM- here's mine. :D

i used a plastic spacer i had in my parts bin to raise the boot. :)

i had one issue which you might be able to revise. the decorative stripe had very tiny burrs on mine and it was enough to shred my suede glove a little bit during the test drive.

later that night i took my file (and my time not to scratch the brushed area) and smoothed it out.

the weight and size imho is very good. the mt.fuji look on the boot didnt really look too bad in person so i just left it.

onzedge 12-27-2011 10:32 AM

^^^ That looks quite nice, Mr. Kenchan. I look forward to actually trying mine when I get back home from my folks' house here in Long Beach.

Question, though, Suede glove? Nice.

I was thinking recently about getting a pair of driving gloves so I don't scratch the finish of my new knob, but felt that it might perhaps be a bit too ostentatious!

Hahaha. It gets cold here, thus the gloves. In the summer unless I'm sweating in a car with no a/c I don't wear gloves. :D. The gloves makes the steering consistent.

TerribleONE 12-27-2011 09:56 PM

just installed my knob.. love it however the shift ring will not fit... pwjdm have you ever heard of this? I cannot thread the knob on with the ring in place

Tward 12-27-2011 10:01 PM

PWD JDM, anything on the diffuser?

Hmm, pics pwease? :pics:

Does the shift ring slip on at all, or does it just not slip down far enough to get the knob threaded?
