I do! Here in Northern California I sometimes get sand in the car from the beach when I head over in November. It's a pain to clean that up when the temps drop below 70 degrees. :happydance:

I will be using the Z as a daily driver in the winter.

I got new 18" wheels and Blizzak LM-60 tires to accommodate:

Yeah I heard, smh, not looking forward to it at all,:eekdance: another reason I decided that it was the appropriate time to garage the Z for the winter.

370Zsteve 10-29-2011 01:32 AM

My Z hates the snow, but I love the snow. My Z loves my garage in wintertime. 11K on the odo in 2 years

Smaller tires are better in the snow. 18s are the smallest you can go and still clear the sport brakes.

dennis26 10-29-2011 01:31 PM

One thing I don't miss since moving south is shoveling snow.

More importantly narrower tires are better in snow due to the fact that they don't float as much as a wider tire.

Right - wider tires are described as being more like a plow in the snow.. you don't want that.

I also got a square set (all the same size tires/wheels) so they can be rotated when it comes time.

:iagree::iagree::iagree:

This and the compound are the most important. Don't be a dumba$$ and get 305's to look cool in the snow.

370zproject 10-30-2011 12:47 AM

so about how much for new tires and rims?

This thread is depressing. I am sorry for you folks who live in cold climates.

cossie1600 10-30-2011 01:35 AM

No worries, half the state lost power. The OP can probably spend sometimes in the car as that's the only thing that has power...

Lol ur right no power just got out of the house and at dunkin donuts charging up the phone and laptop with the other 100 ppl here.

nmjaxx9 10-30-2011 08:54 PM

**quick update we got close to a foot of snow. as much as 27 inches in some areas, this is what we are going through in the northeast....Snow Smacks Northeast; Power Could Be Out for Days - weather.com

Press Conference with CT Governor Dan Malloy about the Storm: CT Weather: Connecticut Weather Forecast From Fox CT - CTnow

Good news is the worst is over for now, its just waiting for the power to get back on, no more snow is forecasted for the near future

cossie1600 10-31-2011 12:47 AM

I just got home from the beach. Branches are all around the house, some might have glanced off the roof. Driveway is blocked with huge branches and ice/snow on it. To make it worse, the Z is being blocked in by the snow and it is blocking the snowblower in the basement. I am screwed. It's freezing cold in the house too, 44 degrees right now

LakeShow 10-31-2011 01:18 AM

The world is coming to an end. It's october and weather like this. This is ridiculous.

ProfessorDave 10-31-2011 12:46 PM

I got my snows mounted on the Mazda Friday afternoon just in time for the 10" of snow we got here.

The Z is sitting today, but might get back on the road tomorrow if temps stay above freezing tonight.

Wow, sucks!, but yeah same situation at my house and pretty much all my realtives and friends houses, branches/trees down, no power, cold houses, and any fast food place that is open looks like a homeless shelter.

UNKNOWN_370 10-31-2011 11:13 PM

Two things I don't miss about NYC.
1. FASCIST LAWS AND GOVT TAKING AWAY CITIZENS RIGHTS.
2. WINTER!!!

cossie1600 11-01-2011 12:21 AM

Cities are safe because they have to protect the rich people and they have wires underground. Once again, the working class gets shafted.

Snakes709 11-01-2011 09:50 AM

no snow yet here in afghanistan. Still 20*C during the days. I was wearing shorts and t-shirt today, abit to warm...lol.

If you check the CLP website you should be able to see when you get your power back on, or atleast an estimate if you dont know already, seems im only going to get power on Sunday by 12am :shakes head:

nmjaxx9 11-02-2011 01:08 PM

Heres the link if you CT guys need to check: Connecticut Light & Power : Estimated Restoration Projection By Town

Thanks but unfortunately CL&P is just bull sh*tting everyone. They are just telling everyone Sunday but power can be restored before that. Just a way to cover their asses... I know people who they said Sunday and got power last night, so nobody really knows for sure...

yeah i know but its better than being in the dark about knowing exactly when, well literally in this situation. at least I know i can expect it before a certain time

either way this is sum bull*** cuz the traffic lights right at the end of my street are on but my whole street is still dark, wtf? So you're telling me that you can fix the light that is attached to the powerline coming down my street but cant move 10ft down and fix the big *** branch thats on top of the power line, like come on, if you're in the area do the whole job...don't half a** s***

Pelican170 11-02-2011 02:04 PM

yea i hear ya man. I have similar issues on my side as well, i just dont understand how they work...

That's good to know, Pelican. My parents are in Newtown and I don't like the idea of them huddled around the wood stove until Sunday. :shakes head:

Mergnthwirker 11-02-2011 08:19 PM

Being without power for more than a week for the second time in two months sucks big time.

The funniest thing I saw was that the CL&P website showing their progress crashed yesterday (just like their power grid). I think the Governor is right that CT needs to develop a new policy WRT trees near powerlines.
