the driving feels like making sweet love. i drive it hard even to the grocery store and i feel like im in a fighter jet cockpit when i sit in it. i have an experience every time i drive it. stop letting road noise bother you. the z is an excellent platform and a true sports car.

I'll probably start with a used Miata or S2000 and pick up a lease with a Subaru Legacy, Maxima, Passat, or 328. I'll see if I'm still feeling the Z as a 3rd car or just let it go. Gonna do some car shopping and lots of test driving. |

Maybe this has already been posted, but...
I agree to an extent that the 370z is a bit of a "disconnected" experience. I have the benefit of having owned and driven several Z's of all models over the years. The best ones (in the cornering and road feel department) are the S30's -- specifically the 70 - 72's. Of course, stock, they are not all that great. However, with the correct setup (dropped, progressive springs, good dampers (Koni/Tokico), poly bushings, bump steer spacing, short knuckles, strut tower bracing and bigger sway bars) -- the 240 handles far better than my 370z. When I say better, I mean it is more precise -- point the wheel and the car goes there, it is quicker responding and i feel like I am directly connected to the car. The 370 is a great handling car too, but I feel like the creature comforts get in the way a bit. I have made only one suspension mod to mine -- sway bars -- so far and am going to drop it as soon as I decide how. I am either going to go Swifts and wait for Koni to start making struts/dampers -- or I am going to go straight to coil-overs (Bilstein). I know though that it will never be like driving the 240. This is all opinion only, but an opinion from a guy who has clocked about a million miles in Z cars. |
Onzedge-had an iPhone-related premature misfire go off in your userCp. Promise I was saying something nice :rofl2:

The Z is an excellent sports car. It has some issues, such as oil temps, but the driving experience is terrific. |

I think I know how you feel. I came from driving a s2000 and the 370z doesnt have that raw feeling like s2k. Our Z handles very well and overall a great great sports car. However.......it does kind of feel like playing a digital football rather than going out in the rain and playing real football.
But do I regret buying the Z? Hell no, not even close. Its just that sense of feeling the Z lacks. Not a major issue |

Hold on. I gotta pull my something out of my something else. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8AxQJmfsHN...ad-up-butt.png |
Granted, this car isn't as responsive as a Miata or S2k. It's quite a bit bulkier.
But I think it's pretty nimble for the power and comfort. |

These aren't the things that you can really get from a test drive, for me anyways. Only after I daily drove it for some time. It took about a year and 15k miles and only then since I was willing to give it time for me to adjust to the car. Just never posted about it. |
I just picked up my Z this past weekend. Before the Z I had an '06 C280 which I hated with a passion. That thing was slow and the mods were expensive.
Before the benz I had a 350Z which I loved. Sure, it only seats two.. but I figured 'oh well' I'm young now, later on I'm prob gonna have to have the sedans and god forbid the minivans... |

I don't get that with the 350Z or the 370Z, though the car is quite a bit heavier (and understeers more, etc.) |

My previous ride was a 2004 DB 350Z MT. It was a pleasure to drive but had a rollercoaster element to it when pushed to the limits. You know, a good roller coaster convinces you that you are about to die and then reels you back in and sets you down with mild bruises and whiplash. My 370Z doesn't make me feel like I'm about to lose it all. Instead it does what I tell it to do and it doesn't argue or penalize me as much as the 350Z would. A lot of people like the excitement of almost losing it all and is why I think they experience disappointment in the 370Z. Now that I have kids I would rather be damn sure that I am going to make it through the turn and get home safe.

Perhaps it's because I have the 7AT, but my Z is fairly happy doing the commute gig or being stuck in traffic. It doesn't feel like a chore at all. It's fairly relaxing, more room than my Honda and more comfortable. I'm 6'2" and 235 lbs mind you. Forget the transmission differences for a minute. If I had to track one I would pick the Z. It's just easier to drive at the limit and a little more fun at the same time. The S2000 has better road feel but is waaaaay too :icon23:-happy for me. To each his/her own. Just enjoy the ride! :tiphat: |
