Just my opinion: The Z and the Mustang (in any configuration) are two completely different vehicles. The Z is a nible, corner-loving sports coupe, whereas the Mustang is a true muscle car for red light drag racing. The Mustang feels heavier (it is!) and bulkier (it is!). I love the look and the handling of the Z over the Mustang (although I have not tried to learn the limits of the Mustang), but the sheer power - and the sound that comes with it, of the GT500 gives me a hard-on, especially combined with the drop-top. Both are great cars - and it's okay to like both, as I do! For me, cars are just like women - they are great to look at, great to play with, each one is different than the other, one might be beter than the other, but I like 'em all.

I did hear the Mustang might be over 600 HP next year (to combat the new Z28, I guess), but I'm sure the HP will keep creeping up year over year, but I'm not waiting for what might come in the future...

Hi guys! I sensed that somebody was talking about me. :hello:

The 370Z is pure sex! It is hot, loud, and rough!

They have great build quality, they are inexpensive for the performance you get, and they have a back seat which seems to be creeping into a few of the decisions. I would hands-down pick a Mustang GT over a G37.

That being said, I chose a Z for exclusivity, reliability, and the fact it was a true sports car.

I just hope that some of our newly "fallen" brothers will continue to hang around as I find them to be great sources of information and entertainment.

If you wanted exclusivity, buying an off the line production car won't cut it buddy. But I understand you wanted something that's not seen 14x a day like a mustang or camaro. Also the stang and camaro are "True" sports cars. The word you are looking for is the Z is a "dedicated sports car". One word makes a huge difference. Have you ever driven a 550hp G37s TT coupe? I've had that luxury. That's why I'm so crazy to FI the Z. If you haven't driven one? Then how you know you'd pick the stang over the G? Know anything about S K Y L I N E? Skyline heritage runs mad deep. Hmmm??? Anyway...

It seems more Z owners find that they have to justify there purchase to Z traitors... I mean traders. Sorry they sound so much alike. Lol.

JDM BABY. No explanation needed.

Mustang, Camaros, Chargers are NOT consider Sport Cars, they are Muscle Cars. ;)

No, aside from a few big-block versions from yester-year that enthusiasts argue over, the Mustang and Camaro are pony cars. The Challenger/Charger could be considered a muscle-car, maybe.

However, your insurance company begs to differ on all accounts.

No way i will get a mustang over a 370z ! Even the latest mustang still uses a century old live axle.

NS370Z 06-22-2012 08:14 AM

I test drove a 2012 5.0 for an entire weekend and it was a very nice car IMHO. It had real nice power. From highway speed to 100+ it was insane. Handled quite nicely. I could never understand all the hate toward other vehicles. The car is very capable and if you are out driving it's potential on the streets you are asking for very big trouble. On the track, I'm sure it's very capable too. I was leaning toward the stang but just thought the Z suited my likes better. I'd go for the Mustang if it weren't for the Z, that or a WRX.

Although I must say, I can't imagine actually purchasing any of the vehicles you mentioned.

It's amazing what Ford has done with the SRA. But the Z and Mustang are 2 different cars. The Z is more nimble on the twisty back roads, whereas the Stang is brute power for straight line acceleration.

The Mustang is to the Z what the Z is to the S2000. The Z is to the S2000 what the S2000 is to the BRZ. The S2000 is to the BRZ what the BRZ is to the Miata. The BRZ is to the Miata what the Miata is to cars with lesser doors.

Nismo89 06-22-2012 09:34 AM

there's no denying the Power difference between the Z vs the Stang, in the "affordable Sports car" category. on paper from just a power stand point the Stang stands alone. with 400 plus stock HP vs the Z's 332 stock HP, to each of their own they are both very good Sports cars, for me it was a matter of i guess... feel, the look. how i felt when i sat in the car.. did i feel lik i was in a sports car? exc.... i test drove the 5.0 and the Z and the 5.0 power wise omg so sweet. lol. but from the overall sporty LOOK ..... i just felt the Z had it. i felt like the Z was just Calling to me, unlike when i sat in the Stang, although it had the power (boy did it ever lol) the Z was calling to me JUST a little more. and im very VERY happy with Ironhide. (yes i named my car after Optimus Primes right hand man, want to fight about it? haha :) )

I was going to say you must regret getting the Shelby last year with the new beast that has emerged, but apparently you've traded up.

Those things are nuts! Have fun in it and be safe.

The S2k was discontinued.

The Miata is a better buy than a BRZ unless you need a back seat

Agreed. I was going on the power/handling aspects of each compared to the other and not really going for any sort of accuracy. :D
