Did I get the right Z?

I just purchased a brand new 2011 370z from the dealer. However before the car was shipped, the sales guy told me how it had the 5 spoke rims that look kinda like the RAYS rims with the forks at the end and not just the standard 5 straight spokes that 350's have. He acted as if this "in between" style looked kinda like this;

http://www.cybervally.com/wp-content...11/01/370z.jpg

Are these stock rims? Because mine do not look like that.

He also said the car was delivered on a truck and had 12 miles on it. But when I fired it up it had 250 miles on it. My sales receipt also says 19 miles. What the hell is going on here? Did they mix up my Z with somebody elses or something?

murphman 09-26-2011 10:44 AM

did you buy a nismo or a regular 370?

onzedge 09-26-2011 10:45 AM

Those are the standard rims on the Nismo version of the 370z in your picture. I would definitely complain abou the miles also.

Masa 09-26-2011 10:45 AM

Those are the stock wheels for Nismo Z's. May want to check VIN on the car and the one thats on your paperwork if you did get a Nismo but do not have those wheels on it.

UNKNOWN_370 09-26-2011 10:47 AM

You either have sport pkg wheels or the nismo aftermarket or nissan jdm aftermarket wheels that are available through the dealership, that look like this.

Nissan mobile

murphman 09-26-2011 10:49 AM

just noticed you drive a black 7at and the nismo does not come in auto. So the picture you posted does not show the wheels that come on your car. They are similar and same manufacturer. I would question the miles though.

kenchan 09-26-2011 10:54 AM

did you get the sports package or no? are you a guy? guys should know this. ;)

bluelion 09-26-2011 01:13 PM

i'm betting he/she has a sport package. but yeh, i would definitely question the mileage.

No I requested a completely stock vehicle. I expected the rims to be the standard 5 spoke style without any additional spokes at the tip. However the sales guy was acting as if nissan updated the 370z this year to include a new rim style from previous 370z models. I had not heard of this so I thought maybe I was getting some neat new rim upgrade for the year. Looks like my sales guy was just an idiot.

Do you see anything being done about the excess mileage? Is there even any point to pursuing this?

kenchan 09-26-2011 01:18 PM

your car was probably used for test drives or was driven from another dealer or used by the staff at the dealership.

my car still had plastic wrapping when i got mine (i test drive the exact car i buy) and had like 5miles.

I just google map'd directions from my dealership to the dealership of origin and it is exactly 225 miles. If you factor in them filling the tank with gas before handing me the keys, and driving it around the lot 250 miles sounds about right I guess. Just wondering if it matters because of waht they put on the bill of sale.

bluelion 09-26-2011 01:25 PM

yeah, if it was a dealer trade, chances are, they drove it from that other dealership.... and it sounds like the sales guy probably knew what he was talking about, but since he figured that you didn't know the difference between the models/packages. he took advantage.

If what you have on the sale receipt doesn't match what you are getting, you have the right to refuse to proceed forward with the purchase.

From 19mi to 250mi that's a lot of miles being added to a car that's technically yours, hopefully you paid used price vs new price, I would. The pic is of a Nismo, you probably ordered the touring or base trim.

UNKNOWN_370 09-26-2011 03:10 PM

Next time come to the forum before you buy. But either way, CONGRATULATIONS! Enjoy your Z. Its yours now. Don't worry about woulda coulda shoulda. You're a Z OWNER now! That's all that matters!:happydance:

ENJOY!:driving:

RunNgun 09-26-2011 03:47 PM

Yeah I already forked over the money. The Monroney sticker said $34,155. That included illuminated kick plates, splash guards, and carpeted floor/trunk mats. I ended up talking them down to $32,718 with a free spoiler/tint job thrown in.

Good deal?

bluelion 09-26-2011 03:56 PM

wait.....free spoiler thrown in? the sports package COMES with the spoiler.....

with that sticker price. it sounds like you got the base model (cloth interior) with sports package. which is what i got....and that's a decent deal....but the sales guy was definitely pulling your leg on some things.

didymus 09-26-2011 04:19 PM

Sorry but you really sound like you don't know what you bought. Who buys a car without understanding the packages available? Take a picture of your car and we can tell you what it is lol.

No, not a good deal. Congrats on the Z but if you don't even have the common sense to research and actually know what you're buying, best of luck to you. :shakes head:

birdmanx1 09-26-2011 04:30 PM

RunNgun, did the dealer show you that pic above when you were buying the car? Did they the sales guy tell you that's what you were getting?

optiontrader 09-26-2011 05:35 PM

Plunking down several tens of thou $$$ on a car, I expect the mileage to be low, preferably in the teens.

If more than 50 miles at purchase, I think: dealer's pet car, demo/test car - in any case, someone driving a car that isn't theirs; I know I'm not too gentle with rentals, especially high performance ones... :p

Plus the salesman says this:

Should NOT be 200+ miles if it got delivered on a truck. BS.

Did you bring up the mileage issue when you took delivery?

This is when most people would walk away and not sign the paperwork.

Yeah I immediately noticed the discrepancy, but I had been through so much haggling between 3 different dealers I was exhausted. I was sitting in the car just as I wanted it, everything looked legit about it, so I just broke down and said "**** it" basically. I figured the sales guy made a harmless mistake on assuming the car was truck delivered. Afterall the mileage on it was consistent with it being driven from the other dealership. I also assumed he probably just isnt too familiar with the Z and didnt know what he was talking about when he claimed a certain type of rims came with a stock model. It wouldnt be the first time I knew more about the car than a dealer.

As far as me being an idiot and not knowing what I was buying, well I approached this deal from a different vantage point this time. Rather than browsing the lot and talking about what I wanted, I came in knowing exactly what kind of car I wanted and what I wanted to pay. I basically told them to make it fit however possible. I said I wanted A B C with X Y Z features and nothing else. They gave me what I wanted. I did not expressly request a sports package but I sorta ended up with a quasi version of one since I really wanted the spoiler to compliment the car.

Anyway I'll admit I'm not the most savvy car buyer, but I'm getting better. This is only my 3rd car :) Last time I paid sticker price like a goon with no negotiating lol. Oh well live n' learn. I've already expressed outrage for being manipulated at my last dealer and that I will never shop there again. We'll see how the new one treats me.

NYBladeZ 09-26-2011 06:28 PM

I guess it could be worse, I paid less for the same car in M6 and less miles. Good luck with it break it in properly.

Ignore all the posters who lack compassion for your situation and slammed you. They have never made any mistakes themselves so they are justified. If you have the sport package after all, then good job -- even if you did not intend to get it.

Let's see some pictures and welcome.

+1 rep for you for your candor.

Yep, there she is, rims and all. (plus spoiler/tint. Awaiting delivery on spoiler) I'll take pictures once it's finished.

optiontrader 09-26-2011 07:13 PM

+1 with the candor and rep; you can chalk this one up as "life's lessons". Sitting in the car, tired and exhausted - people should not try to make a decision with this much money at stake based on emotions.

Lord only knows how much I've done that in the market. :icon14:

I wasn't bashing on you; just the salesman saying "truck" and the process. Congrats on the purchase, welcome to the forum, and get driving already, eh? :D

This is against the law to have incorrect mileage on it. While the difference is only 231 miles, I'd insist that they correct it. God forbid something happens 200mi past your warranty and they stick it to ya. And knowing this dealer and their sloppy bookkeeping, it wouldn't surprise me.

USMCASA 09-26-2011 07:33 PM

so why no pics of said ride yet?

Good deal?

I paid a lil over 34k for sport pkg, auto, kick pl, spl grds, mats, backupcam/homelink and flat-bedded from houston with 7 miles. I wouldn't call your deal terrible. But you didn't go in knowing everything you needed to know. You are learning after the fact. Its ok though. Live and learn. When dealing for sports cars, you can't go in telling them what you want and what you want to pay without knowing certain facts. Those facts can be found here. People have gotten about $1000 less than me for the same car. But usually, they didn't have the camera and the flatbed shipped car. And they definately don't live in the texas "rape a custy for a Z" region.
If you ever trade or buy a new Z again? You are now a member of this forum and you won't get bamboozled by ahole salesmen again.

I paid about the same as you ($33.5k) for basically the same thing, minus the backup camera. I couldn't negotiate as killer of a deal as I wanted to because they had to flat bed the car about 450 miles for me. I got exactly what I wanted so it's all good.

It's only money... ;)

:iagree:

I was able to get mine for roughly 31.5k after I got my tax money back. Tags/title office said that since I was deployed it was tax free once i submitted supporting documents (deployment orders). other wise it would have been about 33.5 as well.
